For 50 years, College Now has put students on a path to postsecondary education. In fact, we estimate that we have served 350,000 students since 1967, many of whom have gone on to do some very interesting things - locally, nationally, and even internationally!
If you haven't been keeping up with our blog lately, here's your chance to learn about a few of our alumni:
José Feliciano moved to Cleveland from Puerto Rico when he was two, and with College Now's help (Cleveland Scholarship Program at the time), he graduated from John Carroll University, completed law school, and went on to become the City of Cleveland's first Hispanic Public Official.
Twins
Mark and Steve O'Donnell
graduated from John Marshall High School and enrolled at Harvard University with the help of advisor Carolyn Beeler. From there, the brothers went on to write for stage and screen. Steve was lead writer for 158 episodes of
Late Night with David Letterman
, and Mark wrote the book for the Broadway musical, "Hairspray."
Tocarra Montgomery, an East Tech student who excelled at wrestling, turned to College Now to help her fill the gap so she could attend the University of the Cumberlands. She went on to become named the first
Women's Wrestler of the Year by USA Wrestling, and she placed seventh in Women's Wrestling at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

College Now Salutes ACE Mentor Program of Cleveland

Congratulations to the ACE Mentor Program of Cleveland on its 10th anniversary!
One of hundreds of chapters across the country, ACE Cleveland works with high school students in the Cleveland (CMSD) and Warrensville Heights school districts to help them pursue careers in architecture, engineering and construction.
ACE mentors from a variety of careers work with teams of students in seven CMSD schools and Warrensville Heights High on an intensive basis throughout the year. The teams build mock design projects that they must present to a panel of judges and an audience of more than 400 people. In addition, throughout the school year, students are introduced to a variety of careers in different companies involved in the construction industry and have opportunities for site visits and hands-on demonstration activities.
At the conclusion of their senior year in high school, eligible students who have participated in the ACE program apply for scholarships run by College Now. Over the last decade, 140 students from these eight schools have been awarded over $700,000 in scholarship funding to attend more than 30 postsecondary educational institutions.
All ACE scholarship recipients must participate in College Now's impactful mentoring program; at the start of the 2017-18 academic year, an impressive 78% of ACE scholarship recipients had either graduated or were still enrolled in school and working toward their postsecondary degree.
College Now is honored to partner with the ACE Mentor Program of Cleveland and commends both ACE mentors and ACE scholarship recipients on their successes!

To honor this momentous occasion, we are recognizing the four foundations that have supported us from the very beginning. Each of these funders has been an invaluable partner, providing us with valued counsel and a combined $40 million in funding since our inception.
