Ambassador Navtej Sarna, India's envoy to the U.S., said that India, with its huge demographic potential, can be the U.S.'s partner for growth and for establishing peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.



FM Jaitley: India Now a 'Bright Spot' in Global Economy

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the Government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided "scam-free" governance during the past four years, and the country has transformed from being one of the "fragile five" nations to the "bright spot" on global stage.


 
WHO Adopts Digital Health Resolution Initiated by India

The World Health Organization (WHO) has adopted a digital health resolution brought by India that paves the way for WHO to establish a global strategy on digital health identifying priority areas where WHO should focus its efforts.


 

IT Minister: New Electronics Policy in the Offing

PM Modi's Digital India program has become a "mass movement," IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, and the Government will soon finalize a new electronics policy to build on the momentum. The new policy will focus on turning India into an electronics-export hub.


 

Reserve Bank of India Appoints 1st CFO

Sudha Balakrishnan, former vice president of National Securities Depository, will be appointed as the Reserve Bank of India's first chief financial officer. The new post will oversee the central bank's accounting departments and formulation of the balance-sheet.

Tata Consulting Adds 430 New U.S. Employees in Florida

Tata Consulting, which recently crossed the $100 billion valuation mark, will add 430 new U.S. employees to its St. Petersburg, Fla., engagement with Transamerica to expand the insurance giant's digital capabilities and drive growth.


 
Delta to Resume Non-Stop Flights to India Next Year

Delta Air Lines will put India back on its route map. The carrier said that it intends to resume flights to Mumbai in 2019, though it did not offer a specific start date or route plan. Those details will come later this year, Delta said.


Amazon Leads $12 Million Investment in Indian Startup Acko

Amazon would be restarting its funding efforts in India after Acko, the digital insurance startup in India, confirmed that the U.S. retail giant led a new round of funding for its business. Acko is taking a deeper step into insurance with a digital-only business in India by leveraging the growth of internet access in India to democratize coverage and develop more relevant products.



India's Wipro 'Localizing More' In the U.S.

Indian IT services giant Wipro is "localizing more" in the U.S. and more than half of its workforce in the country now consists of locals, the company's Chief Strategy Officer Rishad Premji said, asserting that the firm is very committed to the U.S. market.



Cisco's Chambers: PM Modi In League of Gandhi, Deserves 2nd Term

"Prime Minister Modi outlined a vision for India that is most exciting and challenging, and in an inclusive fashion for all the 1.3 billion Indians," said John Chambers, former CEO of internet giant Cisco. "He led India as an innovator, and not just a slow follower. Something similar was witnessed during the times of Gandhi."

Solar Toilets Come to Indian State of Manipur

In a boost to both the Government's Swacch Bharat Mission to clean up India and clean energy, the Indian state of Manipur has installed solar toilets. The solar panels atop the toilets absorb heat energy to generate power and also convert the waste material produced from the toilets.
