CURRENT COMMUNITY MITIGATION LEVEL
SUBSTANTIAL TO SHELTER IN PLACE
The health, safety and welfare of our property owners, residents, employees, visitors and businesses are priority one for Hot Springs Village. We encourage social distancing or sheltering in place to prevent COVID19 from spreading in our community.  We also encourage supporting local businesses as can safely be achieved.  Several are offering delivery services, online services, gift certificates and other creative methods to serve their customers and we applaud their efforts.

We encourage you to visit our webpage  https://explorethevillage.com/members/hsv-covid-19/ that is being used to provide the latest updates, including closings and postponements.

We are also using these resources for mitigation planning:
State of Arkansas
Arkansas has had its first deaths from the coronavirus outbreak. Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Tuesday announced two people have died from COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.

Faulkner County's deputy coroner said the deaths include a 91-year-old man who died at a Conway hospital. Another Arkansas man in his 50s died as well.

According to the Arkansas Department of Health website dedicated to tracking COVID-19 ( link), 280 Arkansans have test positive for the virus as of 4:20 p.m., Wednesday, March 25.  So far there have been 16 positive tests in Garland County and one in Saline.

You can watch Hutchinson's COVID-19 press conference for March 25 here. He focused on veterans and the state moving from recommendations of the 10 or more rule to a directive. Those directives are expected to be on the Arkansas Department of Health website shortly.

While the CDC public health emergency recommendations do not apply to the day-to-day operation of certain business operations at this time, there are no reasonable assurances of recommended social distancing and safety in Barber Shops, Body Art Establishments, Body Art Schools, Cosmetology Establishments, Massage Therapy Clinics/Spas, and Medical Spas.  In order to slow the spread of COVID-19, all Barbers, Body Art establishments, Body Art schools, Cosmetology establishments, Massage Therapy Clinics/Spas, and Medical Spas should close for in-person operations.  Maintaining any related schools' distance education/learning is acceptable.

This directive to Barbers, Body Art Establishments, Body Art Schools, Cosmetology Establishments and Massage Therapy Clinics/Spas, and Medical Spas is made in an attempt to reduce introduction of the virus into new communities and to slow the spread of infection in communities already affected by the virus.  This directive and mandate is subject to change as the COVID-19 pandemic progresses.

This directive will be in effect as of March 25 at noon.

CHI/St. Vincent opens COVID-19 Assessment Center
This afternoon, CEO Nalley was notified by CHI/St Vincent President Dr. Doug Ross that a COVID19 Assessment Center was up and running at their Hot Springs Village Clinic which is located at 4419 Hwy 7.

Of their decision to offer this important service, Dr. Ross remarked "At CHI St. Vincent, the health and well-being of the citizens of Hot Springs Village is a primary area of focus. In this unprecedented time with the coronavirus, we are making healthcare decisions easy for you.  At our Convenient Care Clinic location (4419 Hwy 7 North), we have set up a rapid health assessment system for any patient that fears they may have the COVID-19 virus.  This location can assess your health status in regards to COVID-19 without you even leaving your car.  Our clinic care teams in Hot Springs Village and care teams in the hospital in Hot Springs are ready to meet your healthcare needs."

Outdoor Facility Closures
After monitoring activity on the basketball and pickleball courts for the past two days and receiving numerous calls from concerned members about continued close contact and groups of people congregating at distances closer than 6 foot, we must make the tough decision to close these operations effective tomorrow, March 26.

We are seeing significant improvements in golf facilities and have not yet found reasons for concern in the tennis complex, lawn bowling, trails or bocce at this time. However, we are continuing to closely monitor each of these areas and ask everyone to avoid gatherings of 10 or more or distancing within 6 foot of others, whether indoors or outdoors in order to avoid further closures.

Golf
Use of POA carts has risen significantly because of our single-rider policy and nicer weather. We are adjusting our tee sheets to accommodate as many golfers as possible. Please be patient with us during this time.

We need golfers to return their golf carts to the cart area and empty their trash as soon as they finish with their rounds. Our golf staff will clean and disinfect the carts and make them available for the next golfers as soon as possible.

For your safety, please be patient and don't take dirty golf carts that have not been disinfected and cleaned.

Water & Trash
An increasing number of people are currently at home and consuming more wipes and paper towels than normal. The Hot Springs Village Public Services Department are asking people to not flush disinfecting wipes, paper towels or similar products in toilets but to dispose of them in the household garbage.

We are advising people to remember that toilets and wastewater systems are not designed to process those types of things, which we consider to be trash. These items can cause damage to wastewater treatment and collection systems creating clogs, backups, pump failures and sewer overflows which will create additional public health issues..

Free WiFi Options
There are parking lot locations at both the Coronado Community Center and Woodlands Auditorium where vehicles may go and use free WiFi. Please stay in your vehicle and in this special time practice social distancing. Look for the WiFi named HSV_Guest.

Garland & Saline Counties
Garland County government offices are open. They are allowing only a few people in at a time. Visitors will have to sign in and go through a screening process. They will be asked for their name, address and phone number. They will be asked if they've had any symptoms related to COVID-19 or have come into contact with some that has the disease. Temperatures will be taken at the office. Anyone displaying a temperature of 100.4 degrees or showing flu-like symptoms will not be allowed in.

Garland County will not hold meetings until the COVID-19 threat declines.

Saline County remains at one confirmed case of COVID-19, while persons under investigation rose to eight. Cases in a neighboring county did grow into the 5-9 confirmed case category as a result of the concert.

Saline County Courthouse, the Courthouse Complex and other County Offices are still operating under a policy of limited access by the public.

Helpful Hint from a Member
When filling up your gas tank, take a hand full of plastic bags from your last shopping trip. Slip a plastic bag over your hand while filling up and punching in your numbers to protect yourself during this time of COVID-19 exposure. Be sure to drop the bag in the trash there at the station and use hand sanitizer afterwards.
