Going for Gold
Bowling has long been a passion of our Compeer friend, Danny Blatt. For the past five years, Danny has bowled in a league in Myerstown every Sunday evening. His average score is in the low 200s! When he was first matched with his Compeer volunteer, Danny took Brad bowling: "And I beat his butt!" Danny laughingly remembered.
This March Danny went to Syracuse, New York to participate in the 28th Annual Special Olympics National Unified Bowling Tournament which was held from March 13
th
to 15
th
. He traveled with two coaches and three other athletes, meeting other Special Olympians from several states. "Meeting all those new people, that was my favorite part of the trip," Danny said. Danny also enjoyed the sight seeing trip they took to the local casino.
Danny bowled 6 games in the Tournament, participating as both an individual and as part of a two-person team. Danny bowled a 650 as an individual, and a 585 for his team score. Danny and his doubles partner, Chip, took home a Gold Medal for their effort! Danny also won the individual Gold Medal.
Congratulations to Danny, taking home the Gold!
