We had an active May around here. The new free ice for guest's program started, the sidewalks to Huckleberry and Salal were completed, a new oven installed in the kitchen and the new water bottle filling station was installed in the lobby. All while hosting more guests than May 2017.
Jan Viney and Arnie Marcus volunteered and painted the front deck of the Inn and in their spare time refinished a few benches. Thank you to these great volunteers and friends!
The Seabeck 520 event was a lot of fun. Over 100 people enjoyed touring the grounds, hearing The Independents sing, and getting a little preview of the new Pines. Even with all that, I imagine the highlight was the delicious salmon bake. Thanks to all who attended. I hope to see you all back for the ribbon cutting.
I toured the portable school classrooms that will be up for sale on June 5th. I found two perfect units that will work great in the Rhododendron space. These temporary buildings will provide much needed meeting areas during the Pines construction. They will be removed shortly after Pines is completed. If I am the successful bidder, the larger meeting area will be at least 25' x 60'. That is about 300 sq. ft. larger than the existing Pines room. We will also install some kitchen equipment.
Mark Regan has finished his first month as Food Service Director and is getting comfortable in his new role. Gary Chamberlin is readying for a move to Las Vegas in July. We are hosting a reception for Gary and his wife Cherrie on Sunday June 3rd from 3-5 pm in the Dining Room. We will have lots of food and drinks available. Please stop by and say thank you and goodbye to Gary.
The campus looks great as we head into summer! I hope to see you here soon!
