Click here for the latest updates to library services:  https://www.scottlib.org/1921/COVID-19

As a reminder:

  • The due dates for any items that are currently checked out have been extended to May 1st. Please keep any borrowed materials at this time.
  • At this time we are waiving overdue fees due to COVID 19.
  • You may continue to place items on hold but physical items will not be available for pick up until libraries are open to the public again. Current items on hold will be held through April 15th to allow time for pick up after the library reopens.

The Not-So-New Virtual Library

The Scott County Library has had online components for years now - eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines, reference service via email, and online databases for information.  It's just that now we're relying on them a little more heavily!

For now, if you have a question you can call any of our libraries and leave a voicemail message or contact us via email through the Ask-a-Librarian or Ask-a-Law Librarian forms found on our website homepage. Both phones and email are currently being monitored by library staff, and we will get back to you as soon as we are able.  Any changes to this will be updated on our COVID-19 webpage.

You can also register for a library card online  here so you can then take advantage of our electronic books, audiobooks and magazines. For more information about these materials, and how to access them, click here and choose the format you're interested in using.

Looking to learn something new while you're stuck at home?  Check out our Research & Learning page where you'll find resources that will teach you a new language, how to do video editing, or how to manage your money.

If you get stuck, let us know.  It's a brave new world for some, and we're here to help you navigate through it!

Check This Out!

Club Book Podcasts - If you miss our author programming, browse through the Club Book podcasts for authors we've had here in Scott County - including Brad Taylor who was here earlier this month - as well as in other libraries in the metro area.  Podcasts are recorded at each program, then made available free to everyone. They are also archived, so if you'd like to see Lorna Landvik from last spring, or Louise Penney from several years ago, the podcasts are still available.

Make a Mask to Donate - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and Allina Health, along with several community partners, have launched a statewide volunteer effort, calling for people to sew and donate masks for doctors, nurses and other medical staff. If you'd like to help, click on the link for a pattern and instructions. Drop off times and locations for masks can be found here
