Get ready for Grandparents Day, one of our favorite days of the year.  The fall colors, the crisp autumn air, the beautiful blooming mums all beckon our school to the beginning of a new season.   The date is Friday, October 20th and is a half-day of school.

We have special events planned at both campuses so that everyone can participate in this community celebration of the generations.  The theme for this year's event is "Memories," in particular, the memories we share with our loved ones and the memories we are making together with our grandparents and children.

Events begin at 8:00 am at the Lower School with a breakfast reception from 8:00-9:00.  We will have prelude music, and then the program will begin at 9:30 in the sanctuary with special presentations from students in Junior Kindergarten through 6th grade.  We are asking for seating to be reserved for grandparents only for this event, so they can enjoy seeing the young ones.  Parents are asked to help by serving at the event, purchasing mums with a special message, and signing-up on the volunteer sign-up genius.

Our desire with Grandparents Day is to bless and honor the generations that have come before us.  Special notes can be written along with the purchase of mums on Renweb, and we will share these words of memory and encouragement at the event.

Immediately following, all parents, children, and grandparents are invited to our second annual FallFest at the Upper School on Worthington Road beginning at 11:00 with lunch.  From your Renweb login you can order as many lunches as you like, register for the 1-mile FunRun, and order your personalized mums and messages.  You can also bless the grandparents by purchasing their lunch ahead of time so they can enjoy the event.

FallFest gives families time to eat and play together as three generations.  We will have air-conditioned inside seating for grandparents to relax as well as bounce houses, games, dunking booths and prizes to give plenty of outlets for the children to get their energy out.  Punch tickets for all of these events will be available for $20 a card at the event (so that may be where the grandparents chip in).  These games are all planned and sponsored by the Senior Class and provide fun for all the family while raising money for their senior trip.

So consider the 20th of October a day to remember.  Remember the date.  Remember the special times with our grandparents, and remember to order their lunches and mums ahead of time.  Thank you so much, and we will be sharing more about this special day for us all.

Bake Sale for Box Tops - Lower School

The Box Top Committee will be hosting a bake sale during lunch on Tuesday, October 10th

We need your help in two ways:
  1.  Please start saving your box tops for the day of the bake sale. The box tops will be used to purchase bake sale items and will be collected during the sale. Each student that submits any quantity of box tops will be eligible to receive two bake sale items.  Please remember to separate box tops in amounts of 50 (if submitting more than 50) in small snack size ziplock bags and include a slip of paper with students name, teacher name, and amount of box tops in that bag.  All box tops submitted during the bake sale will count towards raffle drawing to be held in December.  Each student will receive one entry into the raffle for every 50 box tops they turn in.

  2.  Sign up by clicking this link to bring a baked good:
We need help providing goodies for the sale. Based on the success of our previous bake sale, we are requesting the following donated baked goods.

Please do not include any type of nuts.
            Chocolate chip and sugar cookies
            Brownies
            Candied popcorn
            Cupcakes

In addition to the items above, we are in need of a parent to be in charge of coordinating allergy friendly items for the day of the sale.   If you are interested in being the coordinator for allergy friendly items, please contact the coordinators listed below.

Please feel free to email Leslie Mayberry (themayberrys@hotmail.com) or Wanda Majette (wandamajette@gmail.com) with any questions.

Thank you for your support of box tops and CCS!
