ACECL BOARD OF GOVERNORS MEETING
|
|
The ACEC of Louisiana Board of Governors held its April board meeting via ZOOM on April 17 due to COVID19 CDC guidance and local and state limits on gatherings. Please find April board documents listed below. The next ACEC of Louisiana Board meeting will be held on May 15, 2020
|
|
The Louisiana Legislature is scheduled to reconvene Monday, May under very strict meeting protocols. They briefly reconvened March 31, to read in late filed bills per their constitutional filing deadlines. The current ACECL watch list is attached. With less than a month left in the current legislative session, they will need to focus on priority legislation such as the budget. However, at a press conference today, the Senate and House leadership acknowledged that tort reform legislation is likely to be on committee agendas. Expect to see special sessions following the end of the regular session (no later than June 1) scheduled to deal with the economic impact of COVID19.

ACECL VIRTUAL SPEAKER SERIES
Due to restrictions on in person meetings, ACECL has created a virtual speaker series to bring information and resources directly to you no matter where you are!
Plus you earn PDH credits in the process.
We hope you enjoyed the first two webinars with DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson and Chief Engineer Chris Knotts. We are working with DOTD to host two webinars on the new consultant selection process to start with advertisements after July 1 since they were not able to travel to North La. or New Orleans prior to the emergency declaration. Stay tuned for those dates.
The next scheduled webinar will be May 12 at 1:00 PM.

ACEC of Louisiana and AIA Louisiana are again partnering to offer the Emerging Leaders Institute series, a leadership and career development program for individuals committed to developing both their professional and personal leadership abilities. The program is limited to 20 participants and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first serve basis. Please note that the Institute has been a huge success since its implementation in 2015 and is typically filled to capacity within 2 weeks of advertisement so get your application in as soon as possible.

ACEC ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND LEGISLATIVE SUMMIT

The 2020 ACEC Annual Meeting and Legislative Summit was cancelled due to COVID19. The ACEC Board is considering a fall fly-in to DC along with the EEA Banquet in September. More will be shared as it becomes available.

Lake Charles now joins Baton Rouge, Lafayette, New Orleans and Shreveport as an official ACECL chapter. Over the past two years attendance at regular meetings of area firms consistently increased demonstrating strong interest in issues impacting firms doing business is SW Louisiana. Recognizing this success, the ACECL Board of Governor's approved establishment of the Lake Charles chapter at its April meeting. ANCILLARY PRODUCT RENEWALS THROUGH THE ACEC TRUST
|

Just an fyi on what to expect with ancillary renewals that are up for renewal May 1 to Sept 1
st
2020. Please note that most renewals were generated prior to this ancillary rate pass being initiated.
COVID-19 Small Group Ancillary Renewal Details:
- Applicable for groups of 2-100 eligible lives.
- Groups renewing from May 1 through September 30, 2020 will renew at existing rates without rate increases.
- Renewals occurring May through July will require retro-active adjustments and customers may see a lower rate on their monthly invoice than what was reflected in their renewal.
- Products in-scope for this short term COVID-19 renewal adjustment are Dental, Vision, Basic Life, Supplemental Life, STD and LTD.*
- Includes the UnitedHealthcare and All Savers businesses. (ACEC too!)
- State regulatory guidelines may apply.*
*WA groups in the 2-50 space will be subject to standard renewal rate strategy for Dental & Vision
*FL groups in the 2-100 space will be subject to standard renewal rate strategy for STD and LTD
