Bible Verses for Times of Trouble... from Pastor Mark
When Billy Graham's health began to really fade, he was physically unable to read the Bible. He said that he was grateful that he had memorized Scripture earlier in life so he could draw up God's wisdom in his sick bed.

In Psalm 119:11, David said: "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." David memorized Scripture to keep him sinning. Folks, you need Scripture to help you stave off worry, despair, fear, and doubt too!

For many years, I have been memorizing Scripture. I have thought that there might come a time when I wouldn't be able to get to a Bible. I have seen how worry and temptation can hit you when you don't have a Bible in your hand. As I become older, I have seen the power of the Bible when it is in my mind and in my heart. So I have memorized Bible verses.

Since we are living in very challenging times, I encourage you to read, memorize, and meditate on God's Word. This week, I want to give you several Bible verses that will help you and strengthen you in times of trouble. Here they are:

Deuteronomy 31:6: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you."

Joshua 1:9: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Psalm 27:1, 5: "The LORD is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid? ... For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in his dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His tabernacle and set me high upon a rock."

Psalm 46:1: "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

Psalm 46:10: "Be still and know that I am God"

Psalm 56:3: "When I am afraid, I will trust in you."

Psalm 68:19: "Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens."

Psalm 91:1-2: " He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.' "

Ps 112:6-7: "Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever. He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD."

Proverbs 18:10: "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe."

Isaiah 41:10: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Isaiah 59:1: "Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear."

Micah 7:7: "But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me."

John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

John 16:33: "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Romans 8:28: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."

Romans 8:35,38-39: "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Philippians 4:6-8: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:19: "And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus."

2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind"

1 Peter 5:7: "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."

Support God's Work at EHCC

The economy is hitting us all very hard. But don't stop giving to God's work on this hill! So, we need you to give regularly and sacrificially. We need to fully support our worship pastor and his family so they can pay their bills. We still have utilities and other bills to pay. We have missionary support to send. We want to expand our "on-line" presence during this time and that requires money. Please intensify your financial support of East Hills during this time.

There are 4 ways to give:
Option 1: Mail checks to East Hills at 12000 Campus Drive, Oakland, CA 94519
Option 2: Text "Give" to 510-800-7175
Option 3: Give on-line at http://easthillscc.org/online-giving.html
Option 4: Set up on-line banking with your bank and list East Hills as a payee.

We have a dedicated team who will pray for you and your situation. Prayers can be marked "confidential" for Pastor Mark. If not marked, they will go to the prayer team.
Continue to pray for our search team and our elders as they seek God's next leaders for our church. Each week, they are contacting potential pastors. They are looking for a godly, gifted, and faithful pastor that God has already chosen for EHCC.
