Dear Parents,

With schools and many businesses closed, we hope you are using this time to reconnect with children, family, and friends -- at a safe distance, of course!

Humans, and especially teenagers, are social creatures, so it helps to think about "distant socializing" vs. "social distancing" to maintain our connections with one another.

Good news! Although live Parent Education Series events are cancelled through April, we are gearing up for webinars/livestream events featuring local and national presenters.

Here are a few virtual events in the works:

  • Erin Vogel, PhD, Stanford University, #Vaporized: Navigating Teenage Trends in Vaping, E-Cigarettes, and Social Media
  • Madeline Levine, PhD, NY Times best-selling author of Ready or Not
  • Devorah Heitner, PhD, founder of Raising Digital Natives
  • Tyrone Botelho, co-founder of CircleUp Education

In addition, we hope to offer a screening of LIKE: A Documentary About the Impact of Social Media On Our Lives for livestreaming at home. Look for details in upcoming newsletters!

For tips on keeping your teens sane during shelter-in-place orders, Dr. Lisa Damour offers excellent advice in her NY Times article, Quaranteenagers: Strategies for Parenting in Close Quarters (article below).

We encourage you to take advantage of our popular Video Library , featured in this week's newsletter. The new video of Alice Kleeman and Jim Rawlins in "Parenting Through the College Admission Process" just posted!

You can stay connected via our YouTube and Vimeo channels, and look for new postings daily on Instagram and Facebook .

For a little "staycation" inspiration, check out this family's re-creation of Disney 's Pirates of the Caribbean at home.

Take care and stay well,
