From Our Principal

Last week we celebrated Staff Appreciation Week. As many (or all) of you know, this is my first year as an employee of the Westlake City Schools. Daily, I am in awe of the extraordinary teachers and staff members here at LBMS.  Each employee goes above and beyond to help every student succeed academically, emotionally and socially.  This is the most talented staff I have ever had the privilege of working with and I am grateful every day for my position in this district.

Over the next two weeks, all students will be completing their ELA and Math Spring MAP assessments.  These growth reports will be sent home with your child's 4th quarter report card.

From our PTA President

As we head toward the end of the school year, a great big thank you goes out to our teachers and staff at LBMS for their support and assistance to our children this year. Kudos to Molly Jones and Michelle Schulz for their coordination of treats for Staff Appreciation Week!

The co-chairs and committee for "A Civil Encounter" for the 8th grade are working hard to make the event a success. Help is still needed for decorating on Thursday, May 17 from 1:30 - 4 pm and food prep/set-up on Friday, May 18, especially from 1-4 pm and 5-8 pm. All parents are welcome to help - it's a great way to see how the event works!

Have a great week!

Citizens Advisory Committee

Do you have a desire to enhance all aspects of education for the students of Westlake City Schools?   Would you like to be a visible and proactive link between the Westlake community, the Westlake City Schools and the Board of Education?

The Citizens Advisory Committee is looking for civic-minded individuals to join our efforts.   The Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) was established over 40 years ago as a voluntary advisory committee to the Westlake Board of Education (BOE), and is comprised of a diverse group of Westlake residents and community representatives. The CAC communicates, researches, evaluates and recommends action plans for consideration by the BOE.

If you would like to be part of a team working toward the ultimate enhancement of education provided to Westlake's children, then consider joining the CAC!
Additional information, including past research projects, can be found here or you may contact Andrew Mangels ( andrew.mangels@westlakelibrary.org or 440-250-5450) or Mary Essig ( essig6@roadrunner.com or 440-539-9402) for more information.
