Lots of Calves on the Ground
The year is starting out great. Most of the cows have calved. Seems like we get a new one every day. Haven't lost any calves or cows in birth, which is very encouraging. White calves, spotted, black, red. The future looks bright.
Contented cattle. Life is good.

Chasing mama
Latching on
Still supplementing with hay but the grass is coming on

Love this picture. Kyler took it.
Lots of happy calves
Best Help Ever
Kyler (right) with friend Nolan, who has also been helping

Our grandson, Kyler (17) and our daughter, Lisa (MUCH older) have taken a very active role in our business. Kyler's school went completely online and he has been able to help us at the ranch in his spare time. He is absolutely amazing, and we are so proud of him. Hopefully he will take over the production one of these days. One more year of school, and then we will see.

Lisa (left) with KD, who is helping us at the warehouse

Lisa has been helping me at the warehouse. She is a manager at a local restaurant, and I don't need to tell you how that has gone. I don't know what I would do without her right now. We have been shipping 3 to 4 times as many orders as normal every week, and it is only possible because of her willingness to come alongside me. She keeps us all organized and efficient. I truly thank God for her every day.
Last, but not least, our grandson, Teeg (6 years old) who has been helping Grandpa irrigate.
Easter Sunrise
Allan woke me Easter morning, as he does every year, to watch the sun rise. It was absolutely beautiful, and I was so glad he encouraged me to get out of bed.
Meat Inventory Update
We are very fortunate to have had a good inventory of meat during these trying times, as your orders came tumbling in. While our beef inventory has been greatly diminished, we just got some new beef in and will have even more around the third week of May.

And even though our lamb inventory got low, we have processed more lambs and should be in good shape for quite awhile.

Chicken also looks good. While we do not produce the chicken, our supplier has been able to keep us well stocked. Hopefully that will continue.

The pork is another situation. Our producer was going to retire because of his wife's health, but recently he had a change of mind. Unfortunately he will not have any animals for us until November. We are willing to wait because his pork is that good. It's not just good, it's fantastic!
Baked this apple pie last month, with apples that I froze from the harvest last year. Wish I could give each of you a piece to say, "Happy Mother's Day." God bless each and every one of you wonderful mothers - especially as you try to keep your children healthy, and under control. Makes us love and appreciate all the teachers.

Garden Update
I am very happy with my garden so far, but I have had a setback or two. Something was eating my cucumber sprouts. Treated the soil with diatomaceous earth and hoping that the second set of seeds I planted will do better. I think it is going to be a really good growing season. Will plant the outside seeds in a few weeks.
Broccoli doing great
Artichoke doing well. Already harvested one, and two more on the way
Lots of heirloom tomatoes going strong

In Closing . . .
This is a crazy world right now. We are so fortunate to lead the kind of life we do, as being quarantined is no big deal. For sure we are not afraid, and are trusting that God has us in the palm of His hand.

Allan and I sometimes enjoy a gin and tonic at the end of a hard day. Now I can't find tonic in the store - only to find out that it helps mitigate and ward off the virus. Here all this time we thought it was our healthy eating and rural lifestyle keeping us healthy, when all along it was the gin and tonics we drank. Just figures.

That being said, we pray always that you are healthy, and that our meat is helping. God bless you and your family.
