To all our YMCA kids,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I'm sure you miss your friends as much as I do, but there are so many fun things you can do to keep busy.  My husband I have been taking our dog Zoey on walks every day.  She gets tired so we end up carrying her most of the way.  Today the whole family is going to do yard work.  I'm sure your parents would love your help in the yard.

Today is Movin' and Groovin' Monday!!!
  1. I hope that all of you are doing your distance learning.  I know that you usually have free time, recess or breaks throughout the day at school.  So here is a great resource for 10 Quick Brain Breaks that will help you stay focused.
  2. Have you ever played Fitness Bingo?  You may need help from your parents or even older siblings.  Print out the Bingo Cards (there are 8 different ones to choose from).  You can create either Bingo Balls with each exercise on it, or have little pieces of paper with the exercises on them to choose.  Someone calls out the exercise and if you have it on your card AND you do the activity, you can mark that spot.  Make it challenging and the winner has to fill the whole card.
  3. I know a lot of you use GoNoodle in school.  But have you used it at home yet?  Go to https://app.gonoodle.com/discover and check out all the fun Physical Activities.
  4. This idea I borrowed from a friend at another YMCA.  Materials: painters tape, post-it notes and a marker.   on the floor of your house (with parents permission).  At each corner, have a post-it note with a math problem, a misspelled word you have to correct or just a fun trivia question to answer.  He has a young son, so he put letters of the alphabet and had his son walk the maze to spell words.  So many things you can do!
And Parents- last week I sent you the link to Mossa.  This week we are challenging you with t he YMCA's first-ever virtual fitness challenge!
