FROM THE PRESIDENT AND CEO
Planning Well Under Way for BIA's 75th Anniversary
During the next year, the BIA will be celebrating its 75th anniversary of serving the Sacramento region's home building community, and we'll be kicking it off with a party.

Instead of a typical dinner program, the BIA will be taking over the California Railroad Museum on July 20 for an evening of fun, music, and dancing. It will be a unique opportunity to look back with fun story boards and celebrate our impact on building communities throughout the region.

The event will run from 7-10 p..m., with an hour to mingle with appetizers and a no-host bar followed by two hours of music and dancing. We've booked an amazing band -- Hipper than Hip -- and there's a rumor that you may even see a few of our members on stage joining the band for a song or two. You can register online today.

After the party the celebration will continue as we share our history with members, which will culminate later this year when the BIA will release the 75th Anniversary book that will recap our first 75 years as well as take a look ahead into the next chapter of North State BIA.

I especially want to thank our Diamond Sponsor, Taylor Morrison, for their generous support. Other sponsorships are still available. For more information, please contact Angela Tsukiji.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely

Michael Strech

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
BIA Voter Guide for June Primary
The BIA has endorsed the following candidates for office this June:
  • Placer County Supervisor, District 4: Jack Duran
  • Sacramento County Supervisor: Patrick Kennedy, Don Nattoli, Phil Serna
  • Sacramento City Council: Jay Schenirer, Rick Jennings, Jeff Harris
  • El Dorado County Supervisor, District 4: Mike Ranalli
Remember that this year Sacramento County has switched to a mail-in ballot and there will only be a handful of places to drop off your ballot on election day. More information is available here.

Park Fee Increase Delayed
BIA staff succeeded in getting the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors to delay consideration until the end of June of a park fee increase from roughly $9,000 per unit to $11,000 per unit. (The initial proposal was for a fee of $14,000 per home.) The BIA opposes the cost increases and the supervisors expressed concerns with how the higher park fees would affect lower-income residents. BIA staff is continuing to work to see if this fee can be further reduced.

New Date for Our Builders and Brews Event in Roseville!
Save the date of Thursday, June 21st at 5:30 p.m. when our next Builders and Brews PAC event will be heading to Monk's Cellar in Roseville. Please see the attached flyer for more information. To reserve tickets, please contact John Gildea.

Sacramento Region to Receive Nearly $800 Million From Senate Bill 1
The California Transportation Commission recently voted to approve $2.7 billion in competitive funding to transportation projects across the state. Along with SB 1 funds approved by the State Transportation Agency, projects benefiting the Sacramento region were awarded nearly $800 million. Two projects will benefit multiple cities and counties -- the I-5 Corridor Enhancement Project between Sacramento and Elk Grove, and the Highway 50 Multimodal Corridor project (carpool lane extension and light rail improvements). Together, these two approved awards total $125 million and capture 13 percent of the available program funds, or more than double the region's statewide population share.
