2020 VSG Update

COVID-19 UPDATE

Hello VSG Athletes,

Thank you for your patience in these trying times. VSG is especially grateful to those of you who have responded to us with positivity, understanding, and support.

Here is an update of the state of the Games as of 4/7/2020:

VSG is committed to holding 2020 Games for you in this, a 2021 National Senior Games qualifying year.
VSG is collaborating frequently with National Senior Games, and in particular, with other state games in the southeastern United States region to include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
As you know, the Governor of Virginia has issued a Stay at Home order through June 10, 2020. Therefore, there will be no VSG events prior to June 10, 2020.
At this time, and because VSG relies upon city and county park and recreation facilities and professionals, we are unable to provide any confirmed event dates, as sites and manpower are unknown as of now.
Events are likely to take place as soon as a facility is available and logistics can be successfully managed, which may mean that all VSG sporting events will likely not be held in the course of 4-5 consecutive days as is typical.
VSG will convey new event dates to athletes with as much notice as is feasible.
Rather than close VSG registration on April 15, 2020, registration will remain open until May 15, 2020.

Please be patient. We understand that it is difficult to make plans, but as you know, it is beyond the control of VSG.

If you are interested and available for virtual interviewing for Virginia sports media, please indicate so by emailing [email protected] with your name, VSG history, and contact information. Athletes selected for interviews must be capable of managing Zoom, GoTo, or other video conferencing software independently from their workstation or smartphone.
Please be diligent in practicing all COVID-19 safety precautions.

2020 VSG Updates

2020 VSG is a qualifying competition for 2021 National Senior Games.
NOTE: Horseshoes is no longer a National Senior Games event. Virginia will continue to offer Horseshoes.
Cornhole has been added as a National Senior Games event. Athletes do not need to qualify for 2021 National Senior Games Cornhole competition. Learn more here.

Registration

REGISTRATION PROCESS:

Registration is all online, and there will be no refunds.
All athletes must submit an individual registration - every individual, partner, and teammate.
Team captains are responsible for additionally submitting a team registration. Individuals on team rosters that have not submitted an individual registration will be removed from the roster.
There will be NO ONSITE REGISTRATION OR CHANGES.
Athletes are responsible for scheduling their events in regards to times, locations, and logistics.
The Registration system will close on Saturday, May 16, 2020. There are no exceptions.

CHANGES TO REGISTRATION:

To add an event or change an existing registration, email [email protected] with all pertinent information. DO NOT REGISTER MORE THAN ONCE USING A DIFFERENT EMAIL ADDRESS.

PARTNER PLAY:

To find a partner, check the Athletes' Bulletin Board. DO NOT REGISTER FOR A PARTNER EVENT WITHOUT A PARTNER.
When registering with a partner, USE THE SAME EXACT NAME THAT THE PARTNER USED TO REGISTER.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: May 15, 2020

Have your credit card and billing address ready.
Enter all required information (denoted by red asterisks *)
If there is an error with your registration, the system will flag an error in RED - scroll to the top of the screen to review it.
Your registration confirmation will be emailed to the email address that you provided. CONFIRM THAT YOU SUCCESSFULLY REGISTERED by assuring that you received your confirmation email.

T-SHIRTS AND PACKET PICKUP:

T-shirt sizes are unisex.
The T-shirt size selected when registering is the size that will be ordered - no on-site changes to shirt size.
You do not need to pickup your VSG packet, which will include your t-shirt and badge, prior to your event(s).
You may arrange for friends/teammates to pickup your packet on your behalf.
If you do not pickup your packet and would later like it mailed to you , shipping charges ($10) will apply.

VSG Weather Policy

The Virginia Senior Games are scheduled to take place, rain or shine. Every effort will be made to conduct all events, as close to scheduled times and locations as possible. The event director on-site will make the decision regarding any schedule changes. There will be no refunds for missed events or events cancelled due to inclement weather.
