Safely Reopening America
President Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force continue to work with state and local officials as we reopen America.

Thanks to the commitment of the American people there has been critical progress made in flattening the curve. President Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force continue to urge Americans to follow the CDC guidelines to slow the spread but this week, the Trump Administration moved forward with the effort to safely reopen our country.
The “ Opening Up America Again ” plan is a three-phased approach that is based on the advice of public health experts and empowers our state and local officials. Governors have the ability to reopen their states in phases and tailor the roadmap to reentry to fit their needs. The President is encouraging governors to prioritize the health and safety of the American people, especially our seniors and the most vulnerable.
As we continue to slow the spread of the coronavirus, President Trump and the White House Coronavirus Task Force continue to expand testing and provide supplies to areas in need. No American who has needed a ventilator has gone without one. We have the most advanced and robust testing system in the world. The Administration has authorized over 50 diagnostic tests including at-home tests. Nearly 5 million tests have been conducted and red tape has been cut to allow for faster tests.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other supplies are being delivered to hotspots and places in need. The Administration has delivered more than 55 million N95 masks, 523 million gloves, 10.5 million surgical gowns, 5.9 million face shields, 69 million surgical masks, and over 8,400 federal medical station beds. Project Airbridge has airlifted nearly 750 million pieces of PPE. Additionally, 35,000 National Guard troops have been deployed across the country to help with the response effort.
This week, President Trump announced the U.S. is putting a 60-day pause on immigration to ensure our workers and patients are protected. This immigration pause also ensures those laid off due to the pandemic are not replaced with new immigrant labor. There is overwhelming support for this move. According to a recent  USA Today/Ipsos poll , 80% of Americans favor an immigration pause. Even Democrats and many in the liberal media have previously argued against mass migration. While he was a Senator, Barack Obama said mass migration “threatens to depress further the wages of blue-collar Americans and put strains on an already overburdened safety net.” In 2015, Bernie Sanders said, “You think we should open the borders and bring in a lot of low-wage workers, or do you think maybe we should try to get jobs for those [American] kids?” Paul Krugman noted, “Immigration reduces the wages of domestic workers who compete with immigrants. That’s just supply and demand.” This was a smart decision that will continue to put America first.
