Dear Friends of The Blue Purl,

Our tables are full of project kits, and the seats are empty. NJ Woolwalk is postponed, as is our classes.

But we persevere, we stay connected.

It is a surreal time we are all living through, as if in a movie. The streets are empty, schools are closed, sporting events cancelled, communities on lock down – all around the world.

The coronavirus presents us with a tremendous challenge in all corners of our lives, all of us. But we are determined to keep our small, tight-knit community connected. We are here for you, and we see how you are here for us.
Your calls, your orders, your words of reassurance, lift each of us at The Blue Purl. Starting a project is an act of optimism. It confirms that we all have a future, together.

So thank you.

We don’t yet know when this will subside, so we ask patience. We will reschedule as soon as possible. For now, we are doing all we can to keep your projects going. We’d love if you would send us a picture of what you are working on. We can share your optimism. Also let's use The Blue Purl Ravelry Group we started last year for discussions?!

They call it social distancing, but we think of it as physical distancing.
We remain socially connected.

We hope knitting helps you through this challenging time.
You have already helped us, more than you may know.

Again, thank you.

CASAPINKA RULES
Free Patterns with Purchase
To help out LYS during this time of pandemic closures, designer Casapinka gave us a couple patterns to distribute free with purchase. She gave us a limited supply (online codes) for the Olive Pink wrap & Look, Squirrel little Cardi to give us a hand.... thank you Casapinka!
We had Tam on the interwebs helping us pick out great kits for the Olive | Pink - it's a new one for Casapinka and here is her write up. ... " It’s time for some pandemic knitting! Whether you’re on lockdown or not, let’s get knitting something fun and relaxing that will take your mind off your toilet paper woes." - she has a wicked sense of humor!
Look, Squirrel cropped (or not) cardi
Second up with Casapinka's generosity is Look, Squirrel cardi - that we think all these yarns (bottom photo) would look fab with - AND yes we have sweater quantities! Manos Silk Blend, Mad Tosh, Rowan Soft Alpaca, Malabrigo Dos Tierras...

" Look, Squirrel!  is the pattern for those who are easily distracted by shiny or moving things. Once you get through the yoke, you can go squirrel (or plane, ahem) spotting all day while knitting." - this gal's a aeronautics freak.
...and read up - OPTIONAL SHORT ROWS!!!

The cardigan is constructed from the top, down and knit back and forth. The sleeves are then picked up and knit from the top down. There is a delicate seed stitch collar and button band. There are optional short rows and you can make the sweater longer if you like.
Harrisville - Free Whitney Hayward Patterns
"From now until March 31, all Harrisville Designs patterns designed by Whitney Hayward will be free for download. It is our hope that turning to fiber crafts will bring a small reprieve for those finding themselves spending more time in their homes in response to Covid-19."

Isn't that awesome! Love this Carina Pullover made in Harrisville Shetland!!!

Bassenfell
The next few patterns are from ourFibre Co. Trunkshows! Here for WoolWalk :( But they are gorgeous.

Bassenfell  is "an asymmetrical garter stitch shawl with three columns of textural cluster stitches. It is worked from tip to tip with a clean i-cord edging to give it a graphic feel. Originally designed for Cumbria Fingering, this new version in Luma has beautiful stitch definition and a generous, cosy feel that is much needed on cool Spring days."
