Please keep in mind that if you are an artist you are probably also a small business so please take advantage of all the resources available to you. Small Business Administration (Federal)

Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)  This application process is done by working with your local bank. (The Paycheck Protection Program (“PPP”) authorizes up to $349 billion in forgivable loans to small businesses to pay their employees during the COVID-19 crisis. All loan terms will be the same for everyone. The loan amounts will be forgiven as long as:
  • The loan proceeds are used to cover payroll costs, and most mortgage interest, rent, and utility costs over the 8 week period after the loan is made; and
  • Employee and compensation levels are maintained. Payroll costs are capped at $100,000 on an annualized basis for each employee. Due to likely high subscription, it is anticipated that not more than 25% of the forgiven amount may be for non-payroll costs. Loan payments will be deferred for 6 months
  • Sole proprietors, independent contractors, and self-employed persons can apply

Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) & Grants  (you can receive a $10k cash advance within 3 days of applying for up to $2m of an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)); according to the government, “the $10k advance does not need to be repaid under any circumstance, and may be used to keep employees on payroll, to pay for sick leave, meet increased production costs due to supply chain disruptions, or pay business obligations, including debts, rent and mortgage payments.”
An EIDL will not be forgiven by the SBA.


Home Loans or Sole Proprietor Loans
Homeowners and Renters must register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to obtain a FEMA Registration ID Number by calling 1-800-621-3362 prior to applying for an SBA loan.

State of Maryland Relief – Grant /Loan

As of 5 p.m. on April 6, Maryland Department of Commerce is no longer accepting new applications for its COVID-19 Relief Grant and Loan Programs.  All applications that have been submitted are currently being reviewed in the order received. If you had started an application in the program system, it must have been completed and submitted by 5 p.m. on April 7, 2020 in order to be considered.

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance
Self-employed and others who do not receive a regular paycheck and would not otherwise qualify for unemployment  (artists please take a look at this!)

Somerset County Arts Council
If you are an artist and live in Somerset County who has been affected by the situation going on in the world today, we can help. We are offering Artist Disaster Relief Grants. The grants are up to $200 and we have a limited amount of them. Please email socoarts@earthlink.net and you will receive a copy of the grant form. If you don't have internet, please email me and I will mail you the form. Please don't hesitate to email with questions but please understand we will reply as soon as we can.

Maryland State Arts Council In response to the COVID-19 State of Emergency, the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) has created special grant opportunities that provide emergency funding to arts organizations and artists in Maryland as they adjust to losses sustained because of programming, operations, and events that have been modified or cancelled.

Creative Conversations with the Maryland State Arts Council

Creative Conversations are discipline-specific virtual gatherings to give updates, hold the space for peer-to-peer sharing, encourage updated recommendations for action by the Maryland State Arts Council, and envision the resurgence of arts activities while dealing with the state of emergency
during the COVID-19 outbreak.
 
Open to the public, no registration is required.
