I've been monitoring communications from library systems, government websites, media channels, and other news sources to try to gather accurate, up-to-date information to share with staff, Board trustees, and you! A TIP TO FILE UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS
This is not an endorsement, but a recent segment on the TODAY show highlighted a FREE app to file state unemployment benefits. An app called DoNotPay features a chatbot that asks you the necessary questions to apply. CEO Joshua Browder and his employees developed the app to automate the unemployment process for all 50 states, which all have different filing systems. DoNotPay takes your answers and mails a PAPER application which "surprisingly can get faster results than applying online" according to Browder. For those concerned about sharing that type of personal data with DoNotPay , Browder said it will not be retained by the company. "We don't actually store any of the data ourselves," he said. "We inject it in the form, and then it disappears." These are the questions you will need to answer:
  • Social Security number
  • Home address and mailing address (if different)
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Your bank name, address, account number and routing number for direct deposit
  • Employer's name, address and phone number
  • First and last day worked with employer
  • Reason for leaving
  • Pension or severance package information (if applicable)

Respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail.
You Can Still Respond April 1st is a Reference Date, Not a Deadline Date
The goal of the 2020 Census is a complete and accurate count of everyone living in the United States and its five territories. You should count yourself at the place where you are living and sleeping most of the time as of April 1, 2020 (Census Day).

For some, this is straightforward. But others—including college students, service members, and people in health care facilities—may have questions about where they should count themselves or how they should respond. Other circumstances can cause confusion as well, such as moving, having multiple residences, having no permanent address, living in a shelter, or living at a hotel or RV park.
