Alternation of Premises for Storage of Tax-Determined and Non-Tax Determined Distilled Spirits 

May 16, 2018  The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) is advising proprietors of distilled spirits plants (DSPs) that they may submit requests for approval to store tax-determined and non-tax-determined products on their premises in a manner that varies from the requirements in the TTB regulations.   Read more.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Gov. Matt Bevin ceremonially signed a new law [on June 1, 2018] that allows visitors to ship bottles of Kentucky's signature spirit home, then joined Bourbon Barons and legislative leaders to box and dispatch the first commemorative bottles to celebrate the historic occasion.

The new law allows visitors to ship up to 4.5 liters of spirits and four cases of wine per person when they visit a Kentucky distillery or winery.

It's a hard job but someone has to do it! It's technical, physical, mechanical and involves manual labor and other skills traditionally associated with a "man's job." None of this phases Morgan McLachlan, the petite head distiller at The Spirit Guild Distillery in the downtown Los Angeles Arts District.

Coming from another, traditionally, man's job as a camera operator in film and television, Morgan says there is a lot of crossover between the two occupations. And with her background, she hasn't felt intimidated by it, but rather is fascinated by the art and craft associated with distilling, never having any doubts she could do the job.

"Any trade or craft has to be something you are passionate about," she asserts.
