From the CEO - Elections have consequences!

Too many people take Primary Elections for granted, but did you know that, under a relatively new state law, some races will be decided in the primary.  That's why it is imperative for you, your family and your employees to get out and vote.  By sharing information about candidates you are not telling anyone how to vote, you are advocating for candidates that will support and further the priorities of the construction industry.   We hope that you take this election seriously and spread the word that everyone you know should take it seriously as well.

Heat Safety Awareness
Construction work has been picking up and temperatures are on the rise. As we move into the summer months. Workers who are exposed to extreme heat or work in hot environments are at the highest risk for heat exhaustion, heat stress, and heat stroke. Heat stress can be the first indicator in a chain of heat related illnesses.
By knowing the symptoms of Heat Stress, workers can stop it from progressing into more severe heat illness emergencies. Dizziness, headache, weakness, nausea, vomiting, racing heartbeat, cramps, and excessive sweating are signs to look out for. Treating the early warning signs of heat stress can be done by anyone who has been trained to respond appropriately.
  1. Have workers drink water at least every 15 minutes, even if they're not thirsty.
  2. When taking a break, do so in the shade.
  3. Wear a hat and light colored clothing.
  4. Give your body time to adapt to the heat when doing strenuous activities.
Some workers might be at greater risk than others if they have not built up a tolerance to hot conditions, such as new workers, temporary workers, or those returning to work after a week or more off.
Heat related emergencies get worse the longer they go unrecognized or untreated. PGM Safety Services recommends training employees to avoid heat related illnesses. Get ahead of the hazard and let us help you with Heat Illness Prevention. For assistance, please contact PGM Safety Services, an affiliate company of Pro Group Management, and we will be happy to assist. You can visit us at www.pgmnv.com or call (800) 859-3177.
