Surety Bond Execution Guidance during COVID-19
 
The MN Department of Commerce issued  guidance governing electronically executed surety bonds  filed with the Department. Note that this is temporary guidance issued during the current public health emergency. 
Construction Employment Declines in 20 States in March
 
Construction employment declined in 20 states and D.C. in March, aligning with the results of a recent survey by the Associated General Contractors of America that found growing layoffs amid new project cancellations and state funding constraints. Read more

COVID-19 Contactless Ticket Methods from MnDOT
 
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, MnDOT has released new guidance for projects as it pertains to ticket taking for any and all materials.  MnDOT is directing all contractors work with the Engineer regarding specifics on each project. AGC 2020 Golf Tournament Cancelled
 
Due to COVID-19 and the uncertainty surrounding timelines for tournaments to be safe and allowed again, AGC will not hold a golf tournament in 2020. Any members who have purchased sponsorships for the golf tournament as part of their annual partnership will be contacted for other ways to serve their marketing needs. 
Construction Mask Donations to Health Care Facilities
 
Construction firms across the nation are responding to the critical need for N95 masks in health care facilities. Any firm with masks that they are willing to donate should contact the Minnesota  Department of Labor & Industry with the supplies you have available for donation.

MnDOT to End Spring Load Restrictions in South Zone
 
MnDOT will end spring load restrictions in the South frost zone on Monday, April 20, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.  Spring load restrictions have already been lifted in the Southeast and Metro frost zones. Spring load restrictions are still in effect in the Central, North-Central and North frost zones. See more info on the MnDOT load limits map.

MnDOT is holding a Constructability Review for the Stone Arch Bridge the week of May 4-8, 2020, and is seeking input from the construction industry on the following topics: construction access, schedule, staging areas, risk mitigation, and bidding methods. Click here for more information.

AGC Minnesota 2020/21 academic scholarship application now available
 
AGC is pleased to announce that the 2020/21 scholarship application form is now available. Any student currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution in a commercial construction discipline is encouraged to apply for a scholarship. Completed applications and supporting documents are to be submitted to Merry Beckmann no later than Friday, May 15, 2020. Scholarship recipients will be notified by June 19, 2020.
