Dear Freshman Families,
In anticipation of your first high school year at North Phoenix Prep, I am so excited to tell you about our Freshman Retreat to
Lost Canyon
! This is truly a significant opportunity to build a strong foundation for your student in high school. The freshman retreat not only ignites your student’s social engagement over the next four years, it also cultivates the trust required for the rigorous and collaborative work they will do in the classroom. A North Phoenix Prep education depends upon the development of an invested and united community of learners, so our goal is to have 100% participation. We want every member of the freshman class to experience this important opportunity to share a communal experience with their classmates.
We will depart by bus on Wednesday, August 15th and will return on Friday, August 17th, having bonded over team building activities, leadership exercises, an introduction to college counseling, s'mores and campfire stories (and sometimes sing-alongs), hiking, games, and loads of new inside jokes. Students will receive an information packet on or before the first day of school (August 6th) with all the details that they will need for the retreat. The packet will include: daily schedule, packing list, group assignments, cabin assignments, camp map, and liability waivers. We will send home an electronic copy of this information as well.
Securing your student’s spot on the retreat is an easy, online process.
Because the staff at Lost Canyon need to make our arrangements in advance, I would appreciate your prompt response.
