| Capture fisheries are a crucial source of food and nutrition for a growing global population but are often absent from a range of policy dialogues critical to helping the sector do more to meet U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. Read a new report co-authored by our own John Virdin, along with authors from Duke's World Food Policy Center, the Environmental Defense Fund, the World Bank and the Duke Marine Lab. The report suggests that supporting capture fisheries' contributions will require development of policies to ensure the sustainability of fisheries resources and to recognize trade offs and synergies between conservation and food security objectives.
