From the Director
Summer!
How is it possible that an entire school year has passed since the Rose Ceremony at the beginning of the year when we welcomed our new first grade into the grade school? At graduation on Saturday, June 8, those rising second-third graders will complete the cycle by giving roses to our graduates. We will miss the students of Ashwood's graduating class. They have been good leaders as our senior class. They are a sensitive, humorous, compassionate, and vibrant group. I am confident that they will be fine representatives of Waldorf education, just as the many classes who have gone before them. While we will no longer be there to teach and guide them each day, the faculty will hold them lovingly in our thoughts as they now begin the journey into the rest of their lives.

With warmth in our hearts, the faculty wishes to acknowledge Elizabeth Doshi, who has given these students her very best for the past two years. I admire Elizabeth's unending striving, her can-do attitude, the depth of her lesson preparation, and her commitment to the students and to this work. The incoming first grade is fortunate to step into this journey with such a fine and experienced Waldorf teacher.

The administration will "hold down the fort" during the quiet days of summer. We look forward to the beginning of the next school year, which is bound to be filled with a multitude of new triumphs, large and small, and, I am sure, new challenges as well.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer filled with fruitful gardens, exciting journeys, lazy warm days, berries, blue skies, clear waters, barbecues, ice cream, lots of fun, and lots of rest.
We look forward to seeing all of you in September.

Looking Ahead
Farewell
This year we sadly say farewell to both Hannah Miller, Ashwood's strings teacher for the past four years, and to Taz Squire, who stepped into the woodworking program with ease and expertise. Please join me in wishing both Taz and Hannah the best.

Dearest Ashwood Community,
I will not be returning to teach strings next year at Ashwood. It has been a true privilege to teach and get to know your wonderful children. I have learned so much from each and every student. Although I will no longer be the strings teacher at Ashwood, I hope to stay a part of the greater Ashwood community. I will occasionally substitute teach next year at Ashwood and look forward to watching your children continue to grow in knowledge, wisdom, and humanity.

Sincerely,
--Hannah Miller

Dear Ashwood,
I have such gratitude for my opportunity to share my love of woodworking with your students. I unfortunately will not be returning next fall. I am excited to announce I have delved fully into my new business of renovating vintage vehicles, which is taking all of my focus.I do not feel I have the time it takes to continue the woodworking class.

With Love and Sincerity,
--Taz Squire

Celebrations
Flowers for Our Celebrations
The appearance of June's floral effusions always seems sudden and miraculous! Please share some of the bounteous blooms from your gardens to enhance the early-childhood bridge crossing and to make the graduation ceremony on Saturday beautifully festive.

We'll have buckets for your contributions outside the EC entrance beginning on Wednesday afternoon.

Thank you!

End-of-Year Revels Assembly!
Prepare to celebrate! Our lively end-of-year assembly is this Friday, June 8, at 10:00 a.m. at the Camden Opera House. The festivities will last about an hour; dismissal will be from the Opera House immediately following the assembly.

Please make sure that your children wear solid-colored pullover shirts and pants/leggings; no athletic shoes, and that they bring a snack along with them to the Opera House.

This event is a wond
erful way to introduce our school to friends and family: all are welcome!

Picnic after Revels
Celebrate the end of another successful school year!  All families are welcome to gather for an informal, bring-your-own picnic in Harbor Park in Camden just after the Revels on June 8 to celebrate the end of the school year and the start of summer.

Serve-A-Thon
Our third annual Serve-A-Thon raised just over $24,000 - and we have a few anticipated donations outstanding. Congratulations to our top teams:

- Crooked Door Farm raised the most money, and won a kayaking tour for two, donated by Port Clyde Kayak.

- Dragonfly found the most sponsors and has received a signed, framed photograph given by nautical photographer, Alison Langley.

- The Corvids sold the most raffle tickets and will enjoy a dinner for two at Samoset's La Bella Vita restaurant.

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to help Ashwood raise funds!
