Did you know?

You can be a "Green Pet Owner"!

Here are a few steps you can take to keep those fur babies healthy and green.

1. Adopt don't shop!

Adopting from an animal shelter or humane society allows you to re-home rescue animals and not support abusive practices.
Avoid breeders and puppy mills!

2. Spay/Neuter

Pet overpopulation is a major issue both for the environment and general animal welfare. "According to the ASPCA, 3 to 4 million companion animals are euthanized each year. Estimates for stray animals living in the US are staggering - upwards of 70 million cats alone!"

3. Healthy Food

Conventional, "cheaper" pet foods are known to have harmful ingredients, like pesticides and hormones. Organic pet food may be a bit pricier, but you'll be saving tons by minimizing vet visits and medical bills.

4. Biodegradable Poop Bags

Imagine how much you're adding to the waste stream by using plastic poop bags every day. Use biodegradable bags instead!

5. Buy in Bulk & Recycle

Buy pet supplies and food in bulk to save money and cut down on packaging/fuel. Remember to recycle your pet's food cans!

6. Green Tags

Research eco-friendly ID tags and opt for a pet tag made with recycled materials like durable plastic, aluminum, steel or silver!
