Thank You: Amy Porter, Serve Wisconsin Program Officer

Serve Wisconsin would like to give a very special thank you to Amy Porter who will be leaving the Serve Wisconsin team at the beginning of this month. Amy has been a Program Officer with Serve Wisconsin for the past three years. Over the course of her time at Serve Wisconsin, she initiated many invaluable projects including the InterCorps Council and the beloved traveling Servie Badger. She also provided outstanding support and guidance to her programs. The Serve Wisconsin team will miss Amy's creativity and her love for AmeriCorps.
We wish her all the best in her new adventures!
Member Reflection: Ryan Stone, Wisconsin Health Corps

"If the word 'Marinette' conjures up any images at all for most people in the state of Wisconsin, they're likely the pleasant, bucolic sort that color the county's tourism page: sunset over rippling water, silhouette of a boat, bluejay set off by the snow, park path studded with the reds and gold of fall- that sort of thing. Having had a similarly composed sense of the place myself, while signing my name on my agreement to serve this year as an AmeriCorps member at Marinette County Public Health, is likely why I was so shocked, after settling in to my new home in the North Woods, to discover another element integral to the mix that makes Marinette what it is, but that didn't make the pages of any of its brochures. It does, however, threaten to blot out the beauty with which those pages are filled, and which filled my mind before I arrived. That element is heroin."
