Waiting... Come, Holy Spirit, Come!

A Note From Pastor Linda

"Jesus commanded: WAIT for the gift my Father promised..."
- ACTS 1:4

Dear Friends,

There's waiting...and then there's waiting. Do you know what I mean? Some waiting is, well, just waiting, the pointless exercise we all have to endure from time to time. Like sitting in the doctor's office, just waiting for your name to be called so you can get your flu shot. But other waiting seems to matter. Like waiting in the doctor's office for the results of the biopsy to come back or waiting to see the ultrasound of your coming baby. I suspect you know what I mean. Some waiting feels empty and pointless, while other waiting is weighty, significant, and really matters.

Waiting- what do you do while you are waiting? I remember when my family was moving from SD back to MN. My children, Dani and Parker, in second grade and kindergarten, could not quite grasp waiting for 3 weeks before the BIG move so rather than continuing to say NOT YET (every morning!), we created a calendar and every morning their task was to mark off another day of waiting. Waiting is hard work and can test our faith. Doing something helped!

This week's worship challenge was to pray "Come, Holy Spirit, Come"- and to WAIT and see what happens. But waiting doesn't mean doing nothing- waiting can be active.   There are opportunities THIS week at Hosanna for you to participate and see where the Holy Spirit shows up!
  • Wednesday, June 6- St. Andrew's Family Shelter- SAFeS (formally know as Haven Home) Meetings at 10am or 7pm in the Conference Room at Hosanna. Come and learn more about this NEW and EXCITING opportunity to make a difference in the lives of homeless families in the Hugo/Forest Lake Area. This is a NEW partnership- Hosanna is sponsoring one of the family rooms and will be staffing the week of July 29th!!
  • Thursday, June 7 at 9am- Come and Mulch! Bring a shovel or pitchfork, some garden gloves- or just you! Six yards of mulch will be delivered to be spread around Hosanna's grounds. Many hands make the task easy.
  • Sunday, June 10 at 8:30am Coffee and Conversation- a no experience necessary Bible Study on the Book of Acts followed by worship at 9:30am in the GREAT OUTDOORS!
Pray "Come Holy Spirit, come..." and then see what happens!!

What an amazing start to Summer Worship at Hosanna in the GREAT OUTDOORS! This Sunday we continue in the Book of Acts- plus it is Second Summer Sunday- so that means FREE ICE CREAM SUNDAES for all!!

Be the CHURCH - invite someone to join you!
