Greetings Daves Avenue Families,
It’s “no foolin” that we are in Week 3 of our school closure. Joining classroom Zoom meetings has been the absolute highlight of my week. Thank you for continuing to encourage your Cool Cat(s) to take advantage of classroom connections and learning opportunities that are being provided.
Here are a few announcements:
Spring Break – Remote Learning Offline
Next week is Spring Break, an opportunity to spend some time offline and screen free. This break is needed to allow District staff to focus on their families and loved ones. Everyone is encouraged to disconnect from Remote Learning and enjoy the break with their families away from screens. Visit the
Remote Learning Page
for ideas and resources.
Meals offered over Spring Break
Our food service program, providing free meals to any child 18 years and younger, regardless of enrollment in LGUSD, will continue over Spring Break. The
CA Meals for Kids
mobile app helps families locate schools participating in this program.
Thank you to all of the students who submitted their creative versions of the Cool Cat Rap for Mittleman’s Challenge #1! Congratulations to Cruz (1st grade-Mrs. Ludeman’s Class) and Hannah (5th grade-Mr. White’s Class) for being chosen as the top contestants. Cruz made a “DJ Cruz” turntable and Hannah used a program called Scratch which included voice and animations. Way to go Cruz and Hannah! I’m looking forward to having lunch with you when we return to school.

Here is
Mittleman’s Challenge #2
, titled “Gratitude-Giving” created by our Spring Student Council leaders Abby, Emma, and Milli, with the support of teacher leaders, Mrs. Brown and Mr. Ochoa. Please consider writing a friendly letter to an essential worker and follow the directions posted on these slides. Spreading joy through letter writing to an essential worker is a PAWSitively awesome choice during this historical time. Please submit information on the
Google Form
no later than Tuesday, April 14, at 5:00 P.M. to have your name entered into a raffle.

Please watch the video hear a personal invitation to participate in the challenge from our Student Council leaders!

2019-2020 Will Still Have a Yearbook!
*Shelter in Place Project*
The yearbook staff is requesting pictures from your shelter in place experiences. Since this will no doubt be a time that students (and parents) will never forget, they want to make sure it is documented. If you have any photos that you would like to be considered by the yearbook staff for the shelter in place project, please send them to
yearbook@davesavehsc.org
.
Ordering
Please click on the flyer for instructions on how to order and customize your child's yearbook. Instructions can also be viewed at
www.davesavehsc.org/yearbooks
.
*Note*
If you are eligible for a free yearbook through your Dollars for Daves donation, you should have already received a separate email with your own unique order link. If you have not received that email, or if you are not sure about your eligibility, please contact TreeRing support at (
877) 755-8733
