CSD Response Plan Update
A Message from Mr. Bugnacki
Did you know it’s Teacher Appreciation Week? Teachers always deserve our appreciation, but especially during this unusual time, they deserve even more. I am not a poet, but I thought I would attempt, well, something that may be a bit poetic, or perhaps not. Either way, it is my salute to teachers, from a student’s perspective. These are just a few of my observations during this remote learning experience.
Teachers, thanks....
  • For all that you did from your home office today
  • For being creative in designing activities that are engaging
  • For being inventive when common strategies don’t work
  • For letting us into your home and showing us around
  • For giving shoutouts to classmates for doing the right thing
  • For creating hand signals to get our attention
  • For explaining how to “hangout”
  • For showing me how to use the mute button (over and over again)
  • For being understanding and patient as my dog jumped on my lap during class
  • For telling jokes
  • For saying hello to my parents as they walk by my camera
  • For letting me eat my lunch while in class
  • For smiling when everyone is squirming
  • For showing compassion and empathy as I find my way in this new environment
  • For modeling perseverance
  • For showing grit during this challenging time
  • For making eye contact
  • For reading a story to all of us
  • For saying you miss us and meaning every word
  • For always believing in me
  • For just being you
Whether in the traditional environment or the remote environment, I'm so grateful you are my teacher. My hero!
Superintendent, Todd Bugnacki

Grading Guidelines

The Cedarburg School District is committed to utilizing remote teaching practices to provide students with continued access to engaging educational experiences during the Safer at Home mandate. The following guidelines in this Grading Guidelines in a Remote Learning Environment document provides clarification for parents and students regarding quarter 4 grading practices. Should you have any questions related to any of the contents of this document, please reach out to your school principal/counselors/teachers for clarification.
Summer Academy

Normally by this time of year, the traditional Summer Academy registration is under way, the schedule is built and teachers are being hired. As we navigate through this school closure, it is becoming clear that if summer learning opportunities are going to be offered this year, they will take the form of a virtual or remote experience. There are many questions still to be answered from the Department of Public Instruction, which will impact summer programming. Teachers are being surveyed this week to measure their interest in remote summer teaching. In the very near future, parents will be surveyed to measure interest in having your children participate in summer learning experiences. The survey will be general as the first step is to determine how many families are interested in remote summer classes. After we have a better understanding of student and staff interest, as well as the state’s plans, we can then develop a program and follow up with more information.

CPAC Shining Star Nomination

Since the arts are often a source of comfort when the world feels uncertain and overwhelming, the CPAC was very disappointed that our performance season came to a sudden and unexpected halt. Although several school, community, and visiting events and performances have been canceled or postponed, the CPAC staff is busy planning and looking forward to next season.

In the meantime, we wanted to find a way to honor the many people and organizations that are going above and beyond to help others during this challenging time. Please nominate your standout SHINING STAR IN THE COMMUNITY by submitting the survey below before May 31, 2020.
