2018 Tax Roll Estimates
On June 1 each year, the Pinellas County Property Appraiser's office releases the preliminary county-wide property values for budget planning purposes. The City of Largo's change in property values for 2018 saw a 7.4% increase, both citywide and in the Community Redevelopment Agency. Countywide, property values increased 9%. The official property values that will be used for property tax rate adoption purposes will be released July 1st, however, the FY 2019 City Manager's Proposed Budget will use the assumptions provided in the preliminary values.

After School Programs Offered by the Recreation, Parks and Arts Department
The Recreation, Parks and Arts Department was informed by the Pinellas County School District Office that it will not be renewing its contract with the City of Largo for After School Programs at Mildred Helms and Ponce de Leon Elementary Schools beginning with the 2018-19 school year.   The Department will be expanding capacity at its two recreation sites for after school programs at the Highland and Southwest Recreation Centers.

While enrolled in the after school program, children will receive instruction in a variety of after school activities including karate, tennis, dance, sports and art at Highland Recreation Complex's licensed After School program.

Recreation, Parks and Arts Department Community Input Meetings
The Recreation, Parks and Arts Department will be conducting their annual community input meetings in June.  These annual sessions assist the department in evaluating its programs and facilities and planning for the future needs and interests of the community.  The meetings will be held as follows:

June 2nd - Largo Central Park, Shelter 1, 10a-noon
June 6th - Datsko Park, 5-7p
June 12th - Highland Recreation Complex, 4-6p
June 13th - Southwest Recreation Complex, 4:30-6:30p
June 14th - Largo Community Center, 11a-1p

All interested parties are invited to attend and provide feedback on a variety of topics of strategic importance to the department as well as to provide more general commentary.  Members of the Recreation Parks and Arts Advocacy Board will conduct these public input sessions with support from departmental staff.  An electronic survey will be sent later in the month for those unable to participate in the face to face meetings.

Important Dates from the Supervisor of Elections
Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Deborah Clark is reminding voters of important dates and deadlines for the Nov 6, 2018 General Election.
There are 29 offices up for election in Pinellas County and three municipalities scheduled to have elections on the Nov 6, 2018 General Election, including the City of Largo. In addition, there are 13 proposed constitutional amendments on the ballot.

PROJECT UPDATES
Downtown Plaza Enhancement Design Project Update 
The design team consisting of City staff and design consulting firm, Booth Design Group, have begun efforts to collect public input on the preliminary design themes and elements for the proposed Downtown Plaza Enhancement project at the southwest corner of West Bay Drive and Seminole Boulevard. The design team presented to the Recreation, Parks and Arts (RPA) Board on May 21st at the McGough Nature Park and to members of various stakeholder groups, including the Central Pinellas Chamber of Commerce, Suncoast Performing Arts Foundation, and the Largo Area Historical Society, on May 23rd at the Downtown Largo Hampton Inn & Suites. The preliminary input will be used by Booth Design Group to develop several concepts that will be shared with the public during the month of June at City Hall, the Library and the Community Center as well as on-line via LoveLargoFL.com.

Fire Chief Candidate Meet and Greet
Are you curious who the next Largo Fire Rescue Chief will be? The City of Largo will hold a "Meet and Greet" opportunity to meet and speak with the finalist candidates for Largo Fire Rescue Chief on June 7th, from 5-6:30pm, in the Community Room at Largo City Hall.
