Researchers use emojis to develop a modern face scale for product testing
 

A new study finds that emojis are a viable alternative to words when it comes to accurately measuring how kids feel about food, products and other experiences. With that discovery, researchers developed an emoji scale to help companies better test products in non-Western cultures.

Twelve students earn graduate degrees

A record 12 students at K-State Olathe graduated with their master's degree or doctorate. The class also had the first graduates from the professional science master's program. 

Students receive scholarships from industry partners

Four graduate students received $500 scholarships from
K-State Olathe's industry partners. The scholarships were awarded to new students accepted into any of the graduate programs at K-State Olathe.

Around the campus
  

Business owners, industry representatives and metro-based entrepreneurs met with  more than 80 Kansas State University researchers at the K-State Research Showcase on May 16. Faculty shared their research with attendees and how their work could lead to market-ready, business-friendly solutions. Information also was provided about partnership options, best approaches, research agreements and more.

The two recently presented their capstone projects to faculty and the program's oversight committee. Scherman and Racki said that the degree program has strengthened their STEM foundation and equipped them with the management and leadership skills necessary for future advancement.


Friends, family, faculty and staff turned out to celebrate the success of the campus' recent graduate students. Students were honored during an information ceremony and shared how their newly earned degree was helping them take the next step in their career. 


In early May, the Johnson County Education Research Triangle met to discuss the impact that higher education and cutting-edge research are having on Johnson County and beyond. Leaders of the University of Kansas and Kansas State University discussed key initiatives that have stemmed from this landmark community partnership.
