The state housing authority last month denied a request for low-income housing tax credits for the proposed housing complex at 5150 N. Northwest Hwy., but at this time it is not known if the project’s developer, Full Circle Communities, plans to continue with the proposal, wait until next year or drop the plan entirely. There is a pending zoning application to allow for the proposed seven-story building, and the Plan Commission could hold a public hearing on the request as early as June. Meanwhile, construction has started on the five-story self-storage facility which will be located on the northern half of the 1.54-acre parcel. (The Gladstone Park commercial corridor study, which was based on input from residents, merchants, elected officials and the planning department, calls for new construction to be limited to four stories.)
A draft of the Jefferson Park Station Area Plan is now available at
www.accessjeffpark.org.
It includes design guidelines for Milwaukee Avenue north of Foster. The Plan Commission is expected to hold a public hearing on the plan this summer. The plan does not include a proposal to reconfigure Foster Avenue, which would have included rerouting a portion of Foster traffic on to Northwest Highway.
