Principal's Message
June 1,  2018
Dear Families and Friends of OLQP:
As the 2017-2018 school year concludes, we celebrate our students' accomplishments and reflect on the year's triumphs and challenges. Last Friday, the 8 th grade class celebrated their graduation. 8 th grade is always a special year to remember, but this school year is particularly unique. There were three first days of school thanks to Hurricane Harvey: the first day at OLQP, the first day at St. Michael's, and then the first day at OLQP after the flood waters subsided. Students enjoyed the solar eclipse and a Star Party. They cemented their friendships at Forest Glen. They earned high school credit in Geometry or Algebra I. They competed in Robotics and solved engineering challenges in STREAM. They created animal sculptures. They prayed together and for each other. They served their school and their community. Graduation is always a wonderful day of reflection and farewell. There are awards, Mass with Bishop Sheltz, a video, the class song, a final rosary in the chapel, and then the "walk out." Many of the students have been together since PreK. Their bonds are strong, and their foundation is firm. They leave here, but they will keep in touch with each other and with us. It was a blessing to be part of their journey. We wish them well and keep them in our prayers always.
Thank you for being part of the mission and ministry of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,
Mrs. Marianne Mechura, M.Ed.
Counting our Blessings...
╈  Bishop Sheltz, Deacon Mistrette , Deacon Peltier, and Deacon Forse for celebrating the 8th grade graduation Mass with us.
Mrs. Orscheln for her many years of sharing her time and talent as the music minister at weekly Mass.
╈  Mrs. Stulberg for compiling the keepsake books for the 8th grade class.
Thank you!

News You Can Use...
IOWA Reports
If you were unable to attend the IOWA Report meeting Wednesday night, your child's score report will be with the report card. Know that teachers use the data to better identify your child's strengths, areas for improvement, learning style and more. In depth analysis and program construction takes place in the fall.

Summer Post Cards
Ms. Whitley LOVES to get post cards from your summer travels. While you are enjoying sights near and far, consider sending OLQP a greeting! Safe travels to all in our OLQP family!

Summer School
Research indicates that students benefit from staying engaged with academic work during the summer months. Teachers have prepared summer reading lists and projects that you can find on the web site. Some teachers have prepared a little something extra in the way of packets, websites, and resources. Keep it light, make it fun, and fit it in. Your children will benefit from your efforts.  J
