Dear international students and scholars,
We recognize that this is a very difficult time for you and your families as the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve. We are therefore writing to ensure that you are informed as we receive new guidance from the university and federal agencies. As a member of our international community, we understand that you probably have a number of unique questions and concerns, whether you are on campus or abroad this semester.
University updates about courses and housing are posted on the
UD coronavirus page. To help answer your specific questions, OISS has updated answers to frequently asked questions on the
OISS coronavirus page, including guidance on how moving to online courses affects your immigration status. Please continue to check these pages for up to date information.
First, for those international students who live on campus and plan to remain here, the university will work with you to make special on-campus housing arrangements if you cannot return home because of international travel restrictions or serious personal reasons. Even if you already filled out a form, you must now
submit
this form
immediately so that you can remain in campus housing for the rest of the spring semester.
Second, some university staff will begin working remotely from Monday, March 16 through Sunday, March 22, 2020. To make sure that we’re able to support you during these uncertain times, OISS will remain operational even while Elliott Hall is closed. We will continue to offer immigration and other support services remotely. OISS staff will be available via phone, email, and Zoom, and
we will continue to help you with anything you would normally need from our office, including immigration advising and employment questions.
For general questions and to schedule an appointment with an advisor from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., email
oiss@udel.edu.
Please do not hesitate to contact us.
For other COVID-19 related questions, students can contact the UD Call Center at (302) 831-1188 or
coronavirus@udel.edu with more general questions and concerns about the university and departments on campus. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
With best wishes,
Dr. Ravi Ammigan
Associate Deputy Provost for International Programs
