Peace and blessings to you.

We pray you and your families are well and safe as we live with the physical, mental and economical effects of Covid-19. Individuals, families, health care professionals and businesses are suffering on many levels during these Lenten days. The Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist hold all of you in our prayers. The staffs of the Franciscan Life Center and Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care are working tirelessly to meet the psychological, medical, and emotional needs of our clients. Both programs are taking every precaution to protect our employees, therapists, social workers, counselors, and home care nurses who are on the front lines. We continue to work together in good faith and hope to meet the needs of the people we serve in mental health, home health care and hospice care.

Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, offered these thoughts: As trustful children we turn to the Father. We do it every day, several times a day; but right now we wish to beg mercy for mankind, so sorely tried by the coronavirus pandemic. And we do this together, persons of every Church and Community, of every tradition, of every age, language and nation. We pray for the sick and their families; for health workers and those who help them; for the authorities, law enforcement agencies and volunteers; for the ministers of our communities.
Sister Jilda Marie Chabot, FSE, RN, with masks donated by The Little Tooth Company , Southington. The staff of Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care is grateful for the outpouring of support from individuals, health care professionals, friends and families who personally sewed masks for our nurses and to all who donated masks, gloves and goggles. These are difficult days. We are deeply grateful for your thoughtfulness.

If you or your company are interested in donating any protective materials just send us a message and we would be glad to accept them. Supplies are ok right now and with continued, careful planning and your support we can be prepared for what is still to come.

There is always “good news” in every crisis. Sister John Frances LaFever, FSE, Business Manager, Franciscan Life Center, has set up Telehealth, so our doctors and therapists can continue treating clients remotely from home.
Sister Sophia Peters, FSE, LMFT, continues client therapy through Telehealth, the distribution of health-related services and information via electronic information and telecommunication technologies. It allows for long-distance patient care.

As we pray for all of you, we ask you to join us in praying for a suffering world and asking God’s intervention during these difficult days. The prayer of our patron, Saint Francis of Assisi is perfect for the crisis we are facing during this Lent.
Prayer Before the Cross

All Highest, glorious God,
cast Your light into the darkness
of my heart.

Give me right faith, firm hope,
perfect charity,
and profound humility
with wisdom
 and perception,
Oh Lord, so that
I may do what
is truly Your Holy Will.

Amen.

May the Lord bless you, keep you safe, and grant you His peace.
