Our special exhibit on Resilience during the Holocaust has been well received. The
universal theme and contemporary relevance of resilience has touched the hearts of all
who have seen the exhibit. Programs are booking for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019.
Consider attending one of our Resilience Open House Sessions to learn more and
experience the exhibit yourself!

Teaching Tolerance
Workshop

The Museum welcomed 45 teachers from schools across the region for two days of intense
workshops. Facilitator Val Brown from the Southern Poverty Law Center's Teaching
Tolerance program gave us new strategies to integrate social justice standards
in our classrooms and to facilitate critical conversations with our students. We are
thrilled with the success and community-building of these workshops!

Two members of the community donated Nazi paraphernalia found in their homes.
These pieces of German history were taken by their fathers who fought in the European
theater during World War II. Upon returning home, they believed these symbols
of hate would remind their children and community of what occurs when society lacks
the moral courage to protect one another from governments who intend to do harm.

Internship at the
Museum

"Interning at HMCTE has been an enriching
experience which I would recommend to just about anyone who has an interest in Museum Studies. The staff is hardworking and passionate, motivated by a commendable mission statement which is to educate students and teachers alike about the tragedies of the Holocaust and other genocides. At times the amount of work felt daunting, but only because of its high level of importance and nevertheless felt rewarding."

SUNY Oneonta Summer Internship 2018
