Chamber Connection
May 2018
Hi everyone,

What a pleasure it was to see so many of you this month at Boston Spirit Magazine’s Executive Network Night and Federal Reserve Bank's Engage and Connect! These annual events are an excellent opportunity for Greater Boston LGBT professionals to make connections and share their business news, and our table attracted lots of interested visitors. Folks are excited about our new Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce!

For those that missed the events this time around, we look forward to seeing you next time! In the meanwhile, stay tuned for more networking and training opportunities as the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce is planning a number of events and seminars over the coming months.

STARTING UP

You might have been wondering what’s been happening over here at our chamber. It’s true that we’ve been quiet — but only because we’ve been so busy setting up the necessary infrastructure to ensure that our chamber is the most effective in the country! Over the past few months, we’ve been hard at work securing sponsorship support from multiple big corporations, signing on founding member small businesses, designing programs to support and train our members, and building an amazingly talented Board of Directors that will nurture our chamber’s mission and vision — Chairperson James Lopata, Clerk Karen Young, Treasurer Nancy Stager, and Susu Wong.

So while we’ve been preoccupied with startup tasks, we are committed to communicating with all of you more frequently and keeping you up to date with our chamber. So expect another newsletter soon!

CORPORATE FOUNDING SPONSORS

We are delighted to announce our first ten corporate founding sponsors — Harvard Pilgrim, Eastern Bank, PTC, Seyfarth Shaw, Takeda, JetBlue, Burns & Levinson, Boston Scientific, State Street, and Tufts Health Plan. These companies have taken a stand for LGBT businesses in Massachusetts and demonstrated their commitment to equity and inclusion, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them as supporters of our chamber.

SMALL BUSINESS AMBASSADOR

We are thrilled to welcome Sean Driscoll to our chamber as Small Business Ambassador specializing in membership and certification. Sean has long been helping local businesses obtain national LGBT Business Enterprise (LGBTBE) certification through the NGLCC, working from a place of deep commitment to our community. Sean is a seasoned collaborator, coordinator, negotiator, and communicator with over 30 years experience in managing and growing corporate, consumer, and public sector clients, and we are honored that he has joined us.
