SBDM Minority Parent Needed

Now that our election for parents has concluded, we are still in need of a minority parent representative. We will hold a special election for parents on Friday, May 25 during school hours (7:00-3:30 p.m.).   If you are a parent of minority status and interested in being our minority parent representative, please contact  Principal Wilson  via e-mail, along with a brief statement about yourself, no later than Wednesday, May 23 @ 3:00 p.m.

The law defines "minority" as "American Indian; Alaskan native; African-American; Hispanic, including persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Central or South American origin; Pacific Islander; or other ethnic group underrepresented in the school."

"Parent" is defined as parent, stepparent, foster parent, or person who has legal custody of a student with whom the student resides. In effect, a parent of any student currently enrolled and attending Cooper High School this fall as well as those parents of registered incoming students, may vote or run for Council positions.

A parent is ineligible if he/she is an employee or relative of an employee of this school, the district office, or a local school board member. (Relative is defined as "father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, son, daughter, husband or wife").
