Youth & Adult Bowling

Outdoor Adventures

  • $100 for all 5 weeks and overnight trip

It's summer and a perfect time to enjoy the great outdoors! Join us for 5 weeks as we hike, paddle, and explore the natural world around us. Our time together will end with an overnight camping trip (August 6-7) where you can put the skills you have learned to work! Trained staff will ensure your safety on our adventures and keep you having fun.

Water Exercise

Group instruction for individuals with disabilities in water exercise. Must be able to care for self in dressing room and respond to supervision in 1:8 ratio or come with an aide. Aides are expected to join the group in the water to assist, so please come prepared. $1 at the door .

Book Reading & Signing

VSA member and instructor Mary Anna Dunn will read from her poetry chapbook. In Letters to Little's Mills, Mary Anna takes an unflinching look at the legacy of slavery in her family, through a collage of her own original poetry, letters written to her planter ancestors, and the lyrics of spirituals collected during the Civil War era.

Adaptive Recreation implements participant levels to our activities based on our experience and research into what a participant can expect physically and sensory wise during the activity. 
This is to inform participants of what a trip may involve and to encourage them to register for programs that will be the most enjoyable and successful based on their needs.  

LEVEL I 
Mobility: No assistance and can manage most surfaces and terrains to include steep inclines and uneven surfaces. Should be able to walk up to 30 minutes without resting.
Personal Care: Can maintain their own personal hygiene without assistance or with verbal cues
Cognitive: Can follow single step instructions without assistance and stay within a group setting. 
Communication: Able to convey feelings, desires and needs.

   LEVEL 2  
Mobility: Some assistance or self-propelled device. Needs assistance on uneven terrain and independent on flat surfaces.
Personal Care: Can maintain their own personal hygiene with verbal assistance.
Cognitive : Can follow instructions with verbal prompts, constant reminders and some assistance.
Communication: Able to convey feelings, desires and needs with picture cues or ASL.

LEVEL 3
Mobility: Full assistance and/or self propelled device. Must come with an aide
Personal Care: Personal hygiene with full assistance.
Cognitive: Limited ability to follow instruction.
Communication: Able to convey feelings, desires and needs with full assistance.
