Community Champions Recognized
for Custom Devices
In March, KenCrest services recognized a group of industrious residents from the Hershey's Mill community for their work on an adaptive design project, creating customized devices for children with disabilities.
Julie Daly, Clinical Coordinator for Infant/Toddler Programs at KenCrest, nominated the group from Hershey’s Mill, explaining the devices created by the group have been life-changing for the youngsters who need them. Because they are made of lightweight composite cardboard material, the devices, such as wheelchair trays or seats, are portable, much less expensive than other medical devices, and may be produced quickly.

May Is Mental Health Awareness Month
Each May, communities across the country recognize National Mental Health Month with education and awareness campaigns. In 2018, the focus is on the connection between physical and mental health . For example, did you know...
- Stress as a huge impact on our lives. Research shows that stress is closely linked with high blood pressure, heart disease and obesity.
- There is a real brain-gut connection. Not only are our guts sensitive to emotions like anger, anxiety, sadness and joy, our brains can also react to signals from our stomachs. All the more reason to eat a balanced diet.
- Living a healthy lifestyle isn't always easy, but gradually making small changes and building on those successes goes a long way!
- Take the #4mind4body challenge by focusing on whole health and lifestyle choices. Learn more at Mental Health America.
