County Activity Day

4-H County Activity Day
Moore County 4-H is proud to announce arrangements for our annual talent show and presentation competition. The presentation and talent showcase format has changed since previous years, so please read all information below thoroughly!

4-H Presentations
Learning to be comfortable while speaking in front of others is a skill that will never go out-of-date. Teaching and encouraging youth to speak at a young age has tremendous long-term benefits and participating in 4-H presentations is a great place to start!

For those who are new, 4-H presentations is a competition where youth speak for 5-12 minutes on a topic that interests them. This could be anything from how to create a pet first aid kit, the invention of Legos or even a supreme court case. Participants compete against other youth in their age range and topic categories. Winners will advance to district and then state level competition.

This competition, normally held in-person, will be held online this year. Here are the rules, parameters, and changes you should be aware of:
  • All youth must sign-up/register their presentation at this link. Presentations must be registered by May 4th.
  • Presenters will submit a 5-12 minute video of their presentation to the 4-H agent at [email protected]. You may submit your presentation via YouTube link, Vimeo, Google Drive, or mail it to the 4-H office on a jump drive.
  • Your video should be unedited and uncut.
  • Teams - use zoom or something similar to record both participants on the screen at the same time.
  • The usual rules such as no weapons and no live animals still apply.
  • You can find more information about 4-H presentation rules, regulations, and judges rubrics at this link.
  • All county presentations are due by May 15th, 2020. The county judges will deliberate over the next week.
  • Participants will receive final placings, judges feedback along with a list of questions. When presenters re-record their presentation for district level competition, they will end their presentation by answering the questions that were asked by our county-level judges.
  • Presentations in the outdoor cookery category will occur later in the year.

4-H Talent Show/Entertains
Every  year, we are blown away by the immense talents of our 4-H youth. If you plan to participate as a single act, we look forward to seeing your submissions. Please be sure to  register your act at this link  by May 4th. Final video submissions for county judging are due May 15th.

If you would like to create something as a team outside of your immediate family, we will need to wait to receive those submissions until later in the year.

We are here to help you! We know that this is a new experience and it may be scary for you. Don't let fear hold you back. Together, we can do this! Please reach out to the county 4-H staff, your club leaders and other volunteers if you need help or have questions.
