PATF Announces an Increase in Maximum Loan Amounts
|
We are so excited to announce that our board has recently approved an increase in the maximum amount we will extend for our 0% interest Mini-Loans: up to $2,000! We have also increased the amount we will extend as a Guaranteed Low-Interest Loan: up to $35,000! This means we'll be able to offer more affordable loans to more Pennsylvanians of all ages, all income levels, and all disabilities and health conditions.

Loans for Assistive Technology - Filling a Gap |
Recently, the Credit Builders Alliance (CBA) Training Institute launched
Products-in-a-Box (PIAB), a
program that supports nonprofits in choosing and offering small dollar consumer loans and other credit building products that meet the needs of specific populations in their community.
As part of their Assistive Technology Loan Toolkit, they came out to interview us and learn more about our loan program, who we're helping, why it matters, and how others can set up similar programs.
Take a look at this great short video to lean more about what we do and why micro-loans are so important for people with disabilities to get assistive technology.
(Of course, you can always learn more about what we do
on our website.)

Assistive Technology Financing Meeting 2018
|
On the morning of May 8th, 18 Alternative Financing Programs (AFPs) from across the country met to kick off a two-day conference all about financing for assistive technology. Hosted by the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) in Washington, DC, this was the first peer-to-peer gathering of AFPs in years. Some highlights included:
- Jim Sheldon, Supervising Attorney at Neighborhood Legal Services Program, talking about funding resources for assistive technology, including ABLE,
- A panel with Luke Reynolds from Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Olivia Calderon from Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and our own Susan Tachau, PATF CEO, talking about the importance of financial education for people with disabilities, and
- A presentation from Jennifer Bang of CFPB and Michael Gamel-McCormick from U.S. Senator Bob Casey's office about the future of financing for assistive technology.
This meeting got us thinking about AFPs, how important these loan programs are, and how we need to continue to spread the word about what we do. Head over to our blog to learn more about Alternative Financing Programs. |
