Atlantic Institute  Ramadan Dinner

 Holy Cross Episcopal
205 E College St, Simpsonville, SC
June 1st 8pm Parish Hall

Dear Holy Cross Family,
As much as we would like to ask each of you personally to join us for our upcoming Ramadan Dinner on Friday, June 1st, at 8 pm, we know this is just not practical.  So, we invite you, through this letter, to join us that evening to share interfaith food and fellowship (for the third year) with our Muslim brothers and sisters.  As with our time of Lent (when we make promises of faith), the Muslim community, during Ramadan, fast from sunup to sundown each day.   Then they reach out each day, at sundown, to share their food and faith with others.  Please consider being with us, whether you have come before or this is your first time.  Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board in the Narthex (needed for menu planning).   Hoping to see you then.
In Christ's love, Gary and Ande

Ecuador Team Update
The Ecuador Team is collecting lightly used children's clothing to donate to the children's clothing closet at Cristo Liberador.  Any children's sizes clothing welcome.  Please place in basket near the bulletin board.  These clothes will be worn by the youngest members of the church but also shared with families in need in the church neighborhood.

Thank you to a parish member for the donation of a wheeled suitcase that will travel with the team and be donated to Cristo Liberador!

Please pray for us as we prepare to travel to Quito, Ecuador this summer, June 18-28.   Team members from Holy Cross are Marc Gonzalez, Hayley Hellams, Hunt McLeod, Mother Erin Rath, Anne Smith, Ben Smith and Mother Susan Hardaway,  The other team members are from St. John's/Columbia, Grace Church/Anderson, St. James'/Greenville, First Baptist/Mauldin and St. John's Methodist/Anderson.

We will be working at Cristo Liberador Episcopal Mission in Quito, Ecuador.   Some of our team members will also travel to the coast to work at St. Maria's Episcopal Mission in the city of Esmeraldas, with their seminarian who is a member of Cristo.  In Quito and in Esmeraldas we will be making repairs on the church buildings and at homes of children who benefit from the Education Equals Hope scholarships.

POWER PACKS

We have just 2 weeks of school left before summer break and our current pantry supply will handle the last deliveries. Thank you for your support of this ministry during the school year. We ask that you continue to remember Power PACKs when purchasing groceries over the summer, but please look for an expiration date of no sooner than October 2018 so that food will keep until the next school year.
Monetary donations are also accepted and will be held in a designated account until needed. Please make checks payable to Holy Cross and put "Power PACKs" in the memo line.

For more information, please contact Leslie Donahue ([email protected]),  Jennifer Hellams ([email protected]) or Linda McAllister ([email protected]).

Thank you for your support of this ministry to our community.
Vacation Bible School

2018 Vacation Bible School will be Sunday, June 24 through Thursday, June 28 at Holy Cross from 6:00 supper through 8:30 P.M. Holy Cross has purchased a fun learning package called "SHIPWRECKED: Rescued by Jesus" to engage ages 4 through fifth graders. Sixth graders through high school are invited to be helpers and teachers. SAVE THE DATES!

Decorations are already made, the package provides clear plans, BUT what Holy Cross needs now is YOU to make it happen! Please come join us. We need sufficient volunteers to do this as an outreach to the HC Academy and our community!
