From the Board:
Thank you, Genna!
The WNC Board of Directors would officially like to recognize the service and dedication of Genna Eaton serving the community of Waunakee for the past fifteen years!

As Genna moves on from WNC, the Board would like to assure all donors, volunteers, and clients that we are committed to the mission of WNC and moving the organization forward. Over the past few months the board has diligently been working with a local HR firm to find the WNC Executive Director. For more details on this process, please see the article below. Although this crucial position has not yet been filled the board continues to make hiring for this position a top priority.

During this transition time the WNC board will host a morning coffee
Wednesday, May 30th 8am-9am at WNC .

During this meeting the WNC board will be available to answer questions and provide details on the transition and hiring of the Executive Director. The board is committed to continuing the great mission of WNC.

In Search of a New Executive Director
As you can imagine, finding the right person to replace our Founder, Genna Eaton, is not an easy task! We are seeking a special person with combined passion and commitment for WNC's mission along with the business acumen to sustain the organization financially. The WNC Board is committed to finding the right solution to this daunting challenge. It has been a journey and a wonderful learning experience.

We have worked closely with Waunakee's Milestones Human Resources in this process. Additionally, WNC Board member Kari Davis , Vice President of Human Resources at State Bank of Cross Plains, has been instrumental in developing job descriptions, coordinating with Milestones, implementing additional evaluation tools and communicating results with the Board. The initial phase of the search produced numerous candidates. Using the screening process from Milestones in collaboration with Kari, 5 candidates were interviewed by the WNC Board, representing over 24 hours of total interview time. On separate occasions, 2 candidates were offered the position but after much negotiation and consideration, we discovered neither were a fit.

Now that Genna is in the midst of the transition to her new home in Montana, the WNC Board continues the search for her replacement while maintaining all programs and operations. In this interim period, Board member and former Executive Director, Jannina Killian , is working in the WNC store three days per week. Any questions can be directed to Jannina at wncteam@waunakeenc.com .

The Board continues its search for the right person to lead WNC. While continuing to work with Milestones, we have expanded our efforts to include the following:
  • Enlisted a retired non-profit executive to assist the Board with processes and operations
  • Expanded the search to include the Board's personal networks
  • Enlisted the assistance of a current non-profit executive in Dane County to evaluate organizational structure

We also would appreciate your input! If you have any ideas, feedback or yes, Executive Director candidates, please contact Milestones HR at angie@milestoneshr.com or wncteam@waunakeenc.com

Thank you for your continued support of WNC and its mission!
