Dear St. John Paul II Families,
The end of this school year is almost here! I know all of our saints are looking forward to our tradition of celebrating the end of the year with Fun in the Sun day on Friday! Our volunteers do an incredibly awesome job of transforming our campus into a play land for all to enjoy!
Our StJPII family is blessed to have a community that sticks together, and it’s been incredibly evident this year as we experienced many unexpected events. Our continued prayers are with the families of Santa Fe High School. Please rest assured that our school safety plan is reviewed constantly in order to put our children’s security first. Please be sure to read our Counselors’ article about keeping your children safe in this edition of Saints Weekly.
Today’s
Jesus Calling
says,
“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. In Me you have everything you need, both for this life and for the life yet to come. Don’t let the impact of the world shatter your thinking or draw you away from focusing on Me. The ultimate challenge is to keep fixing your eyes on Me, no matter what is going on around you”
. 1 Peter 5; John 14
In Him we Trust,

8th Grade Graduation Attendance
As we approach 8th Grade Graduation, we realize that some families of non 8th graders may want to attend graduation. Since the ceremony is at StJPII and space is limited, attendance is by invitation only. There is only enough space for each graduate to bring 8 guests, which includes parents and siblings. This is due to space and fire occupancy regulations, thank you for understanding.

A letter from your school counselors
This past week has been a very difficult one for our country and for Texans as the reality of another school shooting has occurred in our own “backyard.” When such tragedies happen it is natural for our children to ask questions and to look to the adults in their lives to reassure them of their safety. We are attaching an excellent resource to share from the
National Association of School Psychologists
to support you in this area when talking to your children.
We also want you to be aware that Netflix released a second season of "13 Reasons Why" on May 18, 2018. In the series, which is very popular with young adults, the impact of bullying, sexual assault, violence, grief, and teen suicide are all highlighted. Students' personal struggles often come to light when triggered by a tragic event, uncomfortable experience, or viewing/hearing a form of media (t.v., film, music, etc.) that touches on sensitive topics. Parents need to determine if the show is age appropriate for their children as the subject matter can be very heavy and serious. Some children may be viewing the series and their parents are unaware.
We have included a
list of websites and local resources
for your reference on this series as well as on the sensitive topics it covers. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have a question or concern.
Yours In Christ,
Betty Costantini & Laura Doherty
