Graduation: All Hands on Deck!
Ashwood's  graduation ceremony is right around the corner!
Time: June 9 at 1:00 p.m.
Place: Rockport Opera House, Rockport, Maine
Commencement: A beginning or start, kickoff, opening, outset, onset, launch, initiation, inception.

You are most cordially invited, no...highly encouraged, to attend the graduation of Ashwood's seventh-eighth grade class. All grade school students, from first through eighth grade, participate in this joyous celebration; each class will have a special role to play in honoring Ms. Doshi's class and giving them their special sendoff.

All students are expected to participate in the graduation ceremony. Each year, parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends of the school bear witness to the accomplishments of the graduating class, supported by their fellow students and the entire faculty. There will be a rose ceremony, speeches, songs, comic offerings, and, of course, diplomas.

The ceremony will last approximately one hour, followed by a celebratory reception.

We look forward to sharing this special occasion with you!

School Director

Grade School News
Grade 7-8 Trip
Grade 7-8 went on a hybrid adventure in eastern Canada that included time in both the wilderness
and in an urban setting.

Teacher Elizabeth Doshi reports: "It was a joy to see [the students] work together, try new things, and share their victories at the end of each busy day around the spunhungen, (pot suspension system). Being on the expedition had its own specific challenges and they pushed through the difficulties of packing and unpacking barrels, loading the rafts, paddling as a team, and rising the next day to begin again. The portages were physically demanding, but each child rallied and brought their own strengths to the task. Mr. Kaczor joined the group in Quebec City, where everyone enjoyed a more relaxed exploration time (and sleep). The Musée de la Civilisation was a truly engaging museum and the ghost tour was both creepy and humorous."

Pentathlon
Ashwood's 5th graders participated in the annual Greek Games last week, celebrated this year in Waterville, Canada, at L'Enfants de la Terre Waldorf School. Our visiting movement teacher, Jackie Leigh Davis, accompanied them along with their class teacher, Jeremy Clough, and many enthusiastic parents and family members.

Serve-A-Thon
As the Serve-A-Thon wraps up, I want to extend a huge thank you to all who helped with this incredible fundraiser.
  • Thank you to all the families who helped raise money. Your support keeps this school alive; every Ashwood student benefits from your generosity.
  • Thanks to every the student, faculty member, parent, and grandparent who volunteered during the two service days and helped so many people and organizations in our community.
  • Thank you to the Serve-A-Thon committee for working throughout the school year to plan each aspect of this event, from finding business sponsors and coordinating service projects, to the raffle and Marketplace. Julia Dodge, Jessica Wheeler, Heather Forcillo, Amy Thompson, Julie Letowski, and dance committee members Margo Burnham, Vero Howell, and Willy Ulbrich all deserve superhero capes for their dedication and tireless work on behalf of the school.
  • And finally, thanks to all the businesses who supported this year's Serve-A-Thon with almost $8,000 in sponsorships and donated over $1,000 worth of in-kind gifts for incentive prizes and Marketplace items. Please thank and support these businesses when you are shopping:
