DISCUSSION DENS
LEND YOUR VOICE TO THE CONVERSATION

Got a burning question you'd like to ask? Maybe you'd like to pick your colleagues' brains about best practices. Wondering if anybody has dealt with the same situation you now find yourself in? Informal "Discussion Den" chats will be held throughout the conference, and we're looking for great discussion topics. Send your ideas to AALL.
INNOVATION TOURNAMENT
FINALISTS ANNOUNCED

AALL members submitted some truly great ideas for this year's innovation tournament (sponsored by Bloomberg Law), and from the bunch, three innovations have been selected to move on to the final round. The proposers will pitch their innovation plans to attendees and a special panel of judges in Baltimore for the culmination of the tournament. This year's finalists are:
  • John W. Adkins Director of Libraries, San Diego Law Library
  • Ayyoub Ajmi Digital Communications & Learning Initiatives Librarian, University of Missouri-Kansas City
  • Todd T. Ito Head of Instruction and Outreach & Lecturer in Law, Scott Vanderlin Student Services Librarian, and Thomas Drueke Faculty Services and Scholarly Communications Librarian, University of Chicago D'Angelo Law Library
Two $2,500 prizes will be awarded to further support the development and implementation of compelling workplace innovations. Add this event to your conference schedule and be part of the action.
TRAVEL OFFSET PROJECT
HELPING FAMILIES BREATHE EASIER

Reduce the environmental impact of your travel to Baltimore by supporting the Social Responsibilities Special Interest Section (SR-SIS) travel offset project. By making a tax-deductible donation to the Cool Effects Cook Stove Program, you'll be offsetting carbon dioxide pollution and helping to provide efficient, clean cook stoves to families in Uganda. By replacing unhealthy and heavily polluting cooking methods, these stoves lower dangerous greenhouse gas emissions and significantly improve the respiratory health of these families. A $6.04 donation offsets a ton of carbon dioxide (CO2)--the emissions for an average trip to/from Baltimore, Maryland. Find more information on the donation page or contact David Selden, chair of the SR-SIS Task Force on Environmental Sustainability.
