What Comes After "Retirement"
This academic year marked the last for Associate Professor Gail Goodman-Snitkoff after a successful 27-year career at the College, but she and her husband have had their next step mapped out for some time. This summer they will be opening Pause Gallery in Troy, NY, which will sell a variety of handcrafted sculptures, ceramics, jewelry, photos, paintings, and more. "We chose the name Pause Gallery because we feel that art is something that can help you stop, relax, and calm your day," she said. "In a world where many products are now available to us overnight, we often don't take time to enjoy a purchase before moving on to the next one. But it takes time to create a piece of art and some time to appreciate it too." The gallery will be located in the former Troy Record building at 501 Broadway. More information can be found at pausegallery.com.

Class of 2018, Welcome to the Alumni Family
Congratulations to the class of 2018, and welcome to our alumni community! On May 12, students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of the College braved the chilly temperatures to celebrate the College's 138th Commencement at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. The graduating class included 51 bachelor's degrees, 25 master's degrees, and 224 Pharm.D. degrees.

Commencement speaker Jason Helgerson shared the importance and the roles our graduates will play in the ever changing landscape of health care now and in the future.

Students speakers were Liam McGuey from Albany and Ryan Guilaran from Vermont. McGuey reminded his classmates that every moment is precious, and Guilaran shared the great opportunities that the Vermont campus provided him and his classmates and how their journey will forever keep them connected.

Speaking on The Collaboratory

Have you heard about the Collaboratory? It's the College's new initiative in Albany and an extension of College Parkside Pharmacy, our second student operated pharmacy. It will be used by ACPHS and Trinity Alliance to engage, empower, and activate Medicaid and Medicaid-eligible residents of the South End and nearby neighborhoods to make consistent use of preventative health care and wellness systems.

President Dewey and Dr. Colleen McLaughlin, chair of the College's Population Health Sciences department, recently spoke about the initiative with WAMC on the program "Falling into Place", which spotlights the important work of collaborations between not-for-profit organizations in Capital Region communities. Listen to the interview.
Students Shine Spotlight on Sexual Assault Awareness

The passion of the members of SAVEbyStudents was apparent when they spoke of their mission, to bring awareness to sexual assault and violence. They worked hard throughout the year, finding opportunities to not just build awareness, but also take steps to give back whenever possible.

"We're hoping to do more drives next year, including domestic abuse go bags," said Hannah Ploch, the outreach chair . "We're also hoping to set up self-defense classes."
