Thank you.
That's my first and most important message to you today. As Executive Pastor it is my job to tend to some of the underlying work of ministry, things like finances and building issues. Your faithful devotion to Jesus Christ is shown, in part, through your generosity, and for that faithfulness I am thankful.
We are currently living in a positive cash position, meaning we have received more than we have spent. Being in that place allows the pastors and staff to focus on what is most important - the spiritual growth of the church and her members.
I've been thinking about this as we move into the summer. It is typical for many churches to experience a drop in giving during June and July and even part of August. This is often due to members and church attenders taking time for much needed vacations and traveling, which takes them away from the church. And, when people are not actively attending church their church giving can easily slip their mind.
I'd like to ask two things of each person/family in our church:
1. Consider your summer schedule and make church a top priority. First, by attending worship each week - it makes a difference and helps with the rest and recuperation you seek. Secondly, you can make church a priority by making certain your support for our community remains steady through the summer. We have several electronic giving options that make giving simple and automatic. You can set that up by clicking the link below. If you have questions about this or other options please give me a call.
2. Consider reviewing your pledge for 2018 if you made one. This can be done through our ShelbyNext app - again the link is below. Most of our members are on schedule with their pledges (meaning those who said they would give monthly/weekly/etc. are up to date). However, some are not. We know there can be many reasons for this. We understand life happens and unexpected changes come our way. But, if you see that you are not where you hoped to be in regard to your giving, consider using this time to catch up. That would get you back on track with your commitment and it would help us through the summer.

Finally, and I feel a bit like a broken record, I can't say thank you enough for being the Church and giving generously to what God is doing here to bring about a greater sense of peace and joy in all our lives. When we live and give generously it allows all of us to focus on the greater work of making disciples, so thank you.
